Tried a new set up for the MXT in the UK ....

... ground conditions for mineralization ran from low to moderate, to hot sometimes within the same field. Trying to overcome the disadvantages of tall (6" avg) stubble and hot ground patches, needed to seek as much depth as possible.

Used the relic mode, no discrimination / all metal, threshhold barely audible, ground tracking on, gain set 1 click over 10, pinpoint trigger forward.

This set up gives you a muffled chatter tone when going over small iron / steel, and a high pitch tone for targets over 0 (ZERO) VDI. The old iron targets sized about 2" X 2" or larger, many times would give you high VDI's and high pitch ... the MXT loves old deep iron. We soon learned how to tell the difference between a real non-ferrous deep signal and a deep ferrous iron by the sound and jumping vs non jumping VDI's.

Here is the first B&B we stayed at. It's a remote building behind the Axe & Compass Pub. it has 8 rooms .... 4 doubles and 4 singles.

Our rental car was manual transmission, stick shift on the left, and not much bigger than an outdoor telephone booth on steroids.

Was a real treat driving in the left hand lane side of the road on roads many times less wide than a double car driveway with hedge rows 10 to 12 feet tall growing right next to the road.

When another car approaches, one or the other has to either pull over or back up to let the other car pass. Seemes so strange to have to turn into the left side of the road regardless of turning left or right.

... saving 10 pounds per night but having to stay in the home of a married pair of spititualists and having to go through their bedroom at night to go to "the loo". No thanks.

Here is where we stayed our last two nights .... a 400 year old farm house .... was the least expensive at 25 pounds per night (about $50), the nicest atmosphere, and the best breakfast.
