Tried 3" x 18" coil on the beach today

[attachment 62986 Beach7-17-07.JPG]Found a bunch of coins but not even one piece of jewelry, and the beach was crowded. I think people are getting smarter, seeing all those detectorists out there these days. Didn't add up the coins or even count them, but it's a small pile. Buried a dime at 6-7" in the sand, detected it with a decent signal. This coil is great with the 18" coverage it gives, and the pinpointing is exact and really easy X-ing with the front tip. Light weight too, but not using the coil cover. Used it on the Vaquero.

Hey Jabbo!

The Jimmy Sierra big foot only works on the front half of the coil in all metal mode, is it the same with this coil? Also, is there a small dead spot in the middle of the coil, probably right under the ankle.

Thanks in advance.

Saika, Passed a dime from front to back and back to front in all metal mode. If done slowely the detector resets back to threshold about half way down the coil. When I did it faster, reset was near the end of sweep . But normal sweeping is done side to side so reset is not a problem (across the 3" width). Didn't find any dead spots.

Been waiting to hear from a user of this coil.
Fantastic finds.
Any problems ground balancing the coil?

as I hoped for newly dropped stuff. Maybe not as deep as the 8 x 9" coil tho.

Do I see Canadian coinage mixed in there? A fellow on one of the Canadian boards has noticed that the sweep will not even see some of our coins at "0" disc.

Also detected tiny and large foil, brass grommets, and other metal pieces in disc. mode. Was running very low discrimination. Tried All-metal mode for a short while but was detecting too much rusty nails and wire.
