trick for getting coil wire up the tube better,,,

I know I could use another lower shaft to make things easier but untill then got any quick ways of pushing the darn wire up the hole????

I just hold upside down and twist in the direction that makes the wire coil tighter and it goes right through.

I have some waxed whipping twine that I tie to the connector and drop down the tube so I can gently pull it through. Takes very little effort and shouldn't harm the connector or wiring.

I used to do it exactly like Diggler mentioned. Twisting it in the direction that makes the wire tighten up really help. Push the wire through as you twist it in this direction. I later added a Sunray X-1 probe and now don't have to worry about cable problems. I hate suggesting ways to spend other peoples money but if you haven't been able to check out one of these, I HIGHLY recommend it. I will never go detecting again without it (hopefully anyway). It allows you to to change coils in seconds and there is simply not a better pinpointing option out there, in my opinion anyway. Sorry for changing the topic. If you aren't interested in an inline probe, do the twist and push method, its also the least stress that you can put on the cable/connector. HH -Marc

i would like a probe , but honestly hate the idea of putting any more weight on the machine,, thanks for the tips

Easiest way to get the coil wire up the tube(s) is to tie a little string to the end of it, feed the string through first, then pull it, but don't yank it or pull too hard if you think it's stuck. Worked like a charm for me.

Lube in the Tube ?

I had the same question when I got my e-trac. I had used some dental floss and moved up to some thin gauge wire that I keep in my carry bag. The 70 dollar shaft is alot of wire and alot more dental floss.
