Tree roots make "cents"

JimmyCT

Well-known member
Today I hit a new spot ( well, new to me anyways) Soon as I got out of the car and setup / turned on machine I hit a wheat cent. I am thinking to myself," maybe this will be a promising day" next I found a bunch of clad coinage. I then worked my way over to 3 trees. Right next to a big root sticking out of the ground, Bam! a wheat cent only an inch down, "hmmm" I am thinking to myself how did detectors missed this? " So I start working around all the roots sticking out of the ground, Bam, bam, bam wheat cents were coming up! I am now thinking to myself, "there has to be silver lurking in here if all these wheat cents are popping up" I continue to search around the trees and found two more wheaties. A couple of them were pretty deep (6-7 inches. )The majority between 1-4 inches. I am shocked that no silver came up. This place has been pretty well picked clean ( I guess not good enough :) ) so I am really shocked I pulled these wheaties: 1916, 1918,1920, (a 1920 or 1929 I can't decipher the last number clearly) and two 1941's. Total take 4-nickels, 7-dimes, 4-quarters and 26 pennies. I also found a 1998 Rooofy RSA token (roller skating)

Thanks for looking and remember, check around trees! EPL aka Jim

Well I dont want to tell you what to do , but if 1st you do not succseed try try again , the roots as they grow puch up everything to the suface so things on edge get pushed flat and things to deep get pushed into the range of detection GO BACK, GOBACK dig out some iron and you will find the masked silver otherwise go pick your nose and do nothing , if you do nothing you will find nothing comon solder I know you can do it .

That spot should have silver if you popped that many wheats first time out. Again, I want to thank both of you guys for the posts you put up in this forum. Enjoy reading them.

Hey Gunnar,

Your funny lol Yes, I am certainly going to hit this place many more times over. I certainly dug several iffy signals that turned out to be iron. I was really shocked as this park has been "mowed over" by so many detectors I can't figure out how these coins were missed. The areas that I hit on this day (I found the wheats) didn't not have too much iron or tons of pulltabs or bottlecaps. I did dig a few junk items but for the most part, the ground is relatively quiet and clean (for a change)

Thanks Critterhunter. I am really surprised silver wasn't found. I will certainly be going back. Your welcome on the last part of your post. I also thank you for all your help and in-depth reviews as they have helped me on my GT journey. HH - EPL aka Jim
