Treasures from the old canal.

Hooked up with jimzz977 from another forum today on his turf. We were going to do some field hunting, but, he recommended a constructi"on site along an old canal. I'm sure glad he did, it turned into a pretty good day. First coin of the day, jimzz977, scored a Mexican centavo. I got on a roll and scored the merc, buff and the fob? We moved over across the road and the first hit for was the 1856 1/4 reale, the town was founded in 1855, so, the coin dated the site. The next cool find, jimzz977 scored a woman heel plate. The bottle was a surface find, not sure it's that old since it has a screw top. It was a beautiful day to hunt here in the Southwest, low 70's and sunny.

The merc and button came from an old school yesterday. The dime was 6 1/2" down standing straight up and down, the button was a solid 9 1/2" deep. I was using the CTX on both hunts.

Excellent ! :beers:

Congrats on some great finds!

Dan - Keep it up. I can feel the pull like a magnet. I might have to head East a state and try to get some of those NM goodies for myself. :detecting:
