I've been using the Garrett pouch for a few years now. Maybe 5 years now. Actually the only one I've ever used. Has a inner zip up pocket as well as a couple more open pockets on the inside. I keep my keeper coins in the zip up pocket and always carry a pair of small pruning shears in one of the open pockets for roots. Plenty big enough for all the junk I dig and really seems well made. Pretty reasonable price too. Think they're around $15.00 or so. I'm sure you could get a great deal on one from a forum sponsor here. Good luck, Joe.
Surfman, I too have been using Garrett's older model pouch for yrs now. I absolutely love it, but due to its many hrs of use, the zipper is worn out. Gonna have to get me a new one soon. With that said, it is a great pouch! HH and GL
Right now my favorite is the jimmy sierra pouch. I added a 5" section of 1/2 " pvc with a end cap and took some soft wire to wire it into the mesh section on the end. This prevents my metal awls that I use for a coin probe from poking through the pouch.
I also use a standard web belt with the pouch.
Check out the leather pouches from Sunray. They are very well made , have a built in digger holder, 2 external pockets with Velcro flaps
and 2 pvc tubes for carrying a coin probe. I paid 40.00 for my Sunray pouch, but it will last a lifetime.

I have been using the Whites pouch for many years now. P/N 601-0066 $14.95
It has several pockets and dividers. It usually holds my camera, headnet, bug dope, emergency toilet paper, rain poncho and sometimes a water bottle while I am out nugget detecting.
Not to take away anything from a dedicated American made leather or heavy fabric treasure pouch...If I was single and didn't have to worry about anybody taking my stuff to use their gardening tools for or anything I'd probably have one!...I also started with a cheap fabric one from the local lumberyard...and I still use it daily..3yrs of heavy use..its a real mess, the strings are getting frayed, dirty as all heck, not worth a tinkers cuss, wouldn't give a bleep if I ever lost it for some reason..plus, I sort of like the simplicity, comfort and especially the "cheapness" factor it sends off to anyone that may be sizing me up for a good robbing..I try not to be seen, but when I am, I want to be seen as a cheap poor scavenger hobbiest that don't have two nickels to rub together, a pot or a window, but yet a tad bit spry to perhaps put up a short but violent fight..I dress accordingly to pull off this ruse, and drive a rusty no account car. Contrary to my Wifes opinion, all of this is intentional mind you, and not a flaw with my sense of style or culture Full disclosure, I generally get robbed of any left over money or nice jewelry at home, and have to fund my treasure hunting with clad..
I would say a really dream pouch is very comfortable, quick to put on, modify if needed, Velcro ties perhaps, those would be speedier than tying a bow....

I bought a nice heavy nylon tool pouch at Lowes and altered it to suit my needs. About $10 iirc. I use the large pocket for trash, smaller ones for goodies, and my pants or shirt closable pockets for treasure.
I guess my advice is to determine what your specific needs and hunting style are and get something that you can alter to meet those needs if you cant find exactly what you'd like to have.
I like to sort my trash and good stuff in the field so I need two pockets. I bought the Harbor Freight gardening belt pouch which is made for being around dirt and can be washed with the hose. One pocket for goodies and another for trash and also holds my Ames garden digger.
I love that pouch. The only change I would make on it is to have one for sale without the plastic tube and replace it with a leather holder for a pin pointer. I don't use a probe but do use a Garrett Pro Pin Pointer.
