Treasure Hunter of the Florida Gulf Coast

One of my trips to Florida I ran into Junklord and his Garrett Infinium. Learned alot from his style of hunting, and his use of a Pi detector. I was so impressed I bought a Infinium. I do believe that the infinium makes a great backup detector to the Excal...It is a excellent machine for the tuff Beach's. While hunting with Ron my excal 1000 {hunting in Discriminate, almetal was worse} could only hit 10 inch's deep on the gulf side, but Ron was digging targets at 18 with the LS. We hit a fresh water lake later {with gators} and the Excal was back to normal, hitting deep. This showed me that different Beach's need different strategies to get the most from every hunt. The two things that stood out the most with Ron was the Ls and it 10x14 mono coil. And Ron is very discipline in his hunting pattern. Hope you enjoy the Vid....Joe/Obn

humm not to dispute, nice video by the way, very nice,
ive hunted on gulf with excalibur2 and have gotten 24" on coins with 10"stock coil, now ive seen days where i didnt get any depth but a normaol 10-12"
ive not tried the LS but looks interesting in video,as it looks like most finds where a single scoop??
but might have to agree this machine might be a great back up for excal....:clapping::garrett::detecting::minelab::thumbup:
good luck in 2010

Joe I always enjoy seeing your videos and the time that goes into them. You are a real student of the game. I am interested to learn more about the LS, having just sold the Whites DF. I like the scoop comparisons as well. I am interested to know what you mean by "disciplined" hunter? Does he follow a pattern, low tides wind condtions? Thanks for sharing your travels with us. I hope you are compling notes for a book!

Great Video, Always gleam someting from them. Interesting scoop, looks cumbersome but it works extremely effectively. Again Great Vid.
Cheers

Yep several were fresh drops..but he hit a wheaty at 18.. 3 scoops....and there were a few other deepers....I have both my 10 and 8 there in Naples, and for some reason they just did not want to go more then ten on anything, and AM was worse. I took my infinium to my beach and did a test, the 8 inch excal hit most of the targets in AM, {17 -18 inch's} but there were a few the LS pulled from out of no where at 20 plus. Of course it is a Pi....never got 24 inch's before unless it was something big with the excal, But every beach is so different in its matrix which plays a big part in how the detector performances. I do think the excal II is more sensitive to targets then the olds, but not sure about deeper......? thanks ......JM

Joe, This is different from your others. Great Job...............

I use to hunt all over the place, like a lot of new huntters .Then I found a real good patter ,and been using it ever sence. As far as the scoop go's it's not very cumbersome. It kindda glides through the water and dig very nice .

Treasure Hunter it works very well for you. I hope to learn how to make what is availale locall work for me in the future still trying to find out how and where. Other have been helpful so far.

sharkhunter has one of those LS...................i can not say i am tooooo fond of the S handle part...........flimsey kinda

we made a straight shaft using 7/8" alum boat rod and lower excal. rod...........garrette rod dia. is toooo large for standard 7/8" tube. bob had to make the bolt thru. section of lower rob somewhat smaller to fit the garrette coil

turned out nice.....................no flexing now

Anderson makes a great whole assembly for LS..............cost a few meager bucks, but really nice.

Max...your right..I will have to check sharkes out on my visit in july

Thanks everyone for the kind replies....Joe

Great video! Music fit nicely. Could actually vicariously watch people hunting in their swim gear for hours. Won't see that around this State. Thanks for the 'trip'. Jim

Another great video!
Seeing the scoop in action I can see why people who have them keep them. Looks like little strain on the back or wrist or anything else when working it. That big hoop handle seems to work very well.

There no stain on your back, mostly on your arm and shoulder, but after a while you don't fill it .It pulls real good in the water.
