Treasure Hound with Eagle Eye Question

Hello all,

I've played around the the treasure hound and I'm not sure if I'm using it right or there are problems with the coil. I hope someone can tell me if this is just simply user error. I've used the coil around my house and it seems to work fine at finding objects that I know are there (power line, gas line etc.), although the sound and signal stops completely if I hover over the object for a couple of seconds, but then it starts detecting again with some movement. Anyway after doing this I went to a spot on some other land that was used for farming mainly and in the area I decided to use it, it seems to sound off in several spots like theres a signal there and then when I hover over the spot, after a couple of seconds it completely stops, but this time when I start to go back over the spot, it doesn't pickup anything at all, nothing, nadda. I at one point thought that I had too much metal on me, so I removed any and all metal objects that I could and set them far away and then did some more sweeps. Couldn't pickup anything except I did get a few signals but not at some of the spots that I was getting signals before, but the same thing happened as before after a couple seconds it stopped then couldn't pickup anything. Another odd thing was that when it was going off like I was right on top of something I pointed it in the air and it was still going off like it was detecting something. Anyway I thought maybe there were power lines close by. There are some, but they are at least more than 50 feet away. Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone have any experience with this coil? Sorry for the long post and thanks for any help.

Occasionally it may be necessary to manually ground balance the front searchcoil to reduce disturbances caused by ground mineralization. Refer to the Manual Ground Balancing section of the detector's owner's manual for more information.

Thanks for your help. I thought I may not be doing something right. I'm still more or less a newbie in the metal detecting world. Thanks again.

Yeah man, the thing with the two-box units is they are sooooo sensitive to a variety of external conditions. Temperature varitions can cause the threshold to fluctuate:rage: Changes in the levels of ground mineralization:ranting: and worst of all electromagnetic(EMF)powerlines and such:crylol:
Always remember to try to keep the unit completely level(on a level plane)while walking. Easier said than done. Also, remeber to retune the threshold by pressing and releasing the All Metal button.

Read that owner's manual again and again and have it in your pocket for in field reference. Happy Hunting!:)

Thanks. It was in the 30s when I was out hunting and there are power lines in the area. Thanks for the tip on the All Metal Button. I've read the manual, just once though, not enought to have anything stick. Thanks again.
