i am planning to travel overseas with the sea hunter metal detector, what do you recommand, put it in the suitcase or mail it to where i want to stay overseas. my question is becasue i am worry if i would be stoped in the airport and could loss the metal detector in customs, and what is the worst could happen.
thank you

Where are you going?

I'm taking a metal detector to the Czech Republic next week, and the way I plan to handle it is to take the control housing in my carry-on luggage, and the rods, coils, and digger will all be in my check-in.

DON"T TAKE IT ON THE CARRY ON.. I am almost sure if you do and find the wrong person they will make you toss it. Check it in.... I even had problems with my daughter's stuff with her medical stuff. You need to check with the host country also even if the airlines says it is okay here. Had that happen to me from Korea to the Philippines. Going to the Philippines was okay, but when I went the other way, well it cost me.

http://metaldetectingworld.com/ check on this site, this guys travels to other countries with his detector.

I have been the the Czech Republic while I was living in Germany, but that was 1990.

I usually take mine across the United States and break in down.. Remove all the batteries and carry with your carry on bag or put them in a zip lock bag and cover the terminals and then check in to go to the ramp..
