Travel Tripods...........

Recently, several folks made mention that they needed a light weight tripod to use while hiking in remote areas. I found this interesting article containing information about light weight tripods and thought it might prove to be of interest to some of you. Kelley (Texas) :)

A friend of mine recently told me about a sort of tripod...very interesting. It's a monopod in a way......a strap that you screw into your camera and on the other end has a loop that you put your foot in. I guess you then put tension on the strap, pulling up on the camera and take the picture, then just wrap up the strap and on your way. Sounds like it might work similar to a monopod and give some stability. I don't know what it's called....maybe a flexible monopod? Might be worth a try.

Thats a great bit of information about lightweight tripods,i finally bought a el-cheapo SLIK brand name tripod from Ebay, was possibly the cheapest tripod going but has features that alot more expensive one offer, its small enough and light enough to carry with you in a back pack and as a result of the small amount of use it will i does not tie up a massive amount of money.

Well i am a happy with the purchase anyway, also just bought a very small action cam as well that i can also use on the tripod as well.

How long ago did your friend tell you about this type of aid to add stability when taking a picture? If you get any new information would you let us know? Thanks for your interest and input on this subject. Kelley (Texas) :)

something called the vulture strap but is expensive (don't know why). I think you could make one cheap by buying the right screw for the tripod receptacle on the camera (is it a 1/4 x 20 ? I think.... then use a heavy duty nylon strap with a foot loop. Either that or on the camera end you could clip it to the camera strap loops, but I think it would be easier to hook to the tripod hole.
