trash groundbalance?

Where I detect there's not much difference from site to site when it comes to ground balancing. I know pretty much on each detector where the ground balance knob is located normally. If I run into an area with a lot of trash and can't find a clean area to ground balance, I just set the ground balance where it's usually set and start swinging.

I had a hard time ground balancing recently because of all the metal in the ground. I just walked to a clean area balanced it and returned. You can always use the default setting in the manual.

You just got to keep looking for a little clean area.

I hunted a park so trashy back in Birmingham I gave up trying to find a clean place to GB my Vaq.
I finally got down on my knees and took a one foot square area and dug everything I found in the dirt down to several inches deep...almost a foot.

I took about 15 pieces of trash out of that hole including several pop tops, screw on tops, beaver tail and sta tabs, and can slaw and foil.
I was finally able to GB over the cleaner dirt, but that hunt was still pretty tough.
This is the trash I found that day attempting to sort through the trash, digging a lot to see what was masked, and also digging a ton of bottle caps because I was using the wrong coil at this site, a DD, so most of them were disguised as quarters..
