transfer program from exchange2 to detector

tcp

Member
Finally able to figure out a little bit about creating a program on xchange2 but unable to send the program from computer to detector after it was saved. Any ideas as to what is wrong? Thanks for any help.

wont transfer, or won't save it there. I have had issues with the program disappearing from the CTX after I unplug it from the computer. I dont do it often, so I'm sure if I'm doing steps wrong or if there some bug. I just keep trying and eventually it works.

Sorry, without knowing specifics its hard to answer.

Honestly I don't use exchange all that much. But if I recall you have to drag it into the 3030 folder and then unplug it.

It was saved but not transferred.

That doesnt make sense. When you drag and drop the program from the xchange file to the CTX file, you are transferring (copying) it from xchange to the detector. You can open the CTX file and see it there. Are you able to get to that point?

Once you have it there, removing the detector from the computer SHOULD cause the detector to tell you its saving changes and then it's saved in the detector.

Just to repeat what has already been said by Jason and GKM;
after drag and drop to the CTX 3030 folder, unplug the connecting cable and wait until the CTX is showing the hunt screen and giving you the threshold tone. THEN and only then can you power down the CTX.

This is a very common mistake for new xChange2 users. Made it myself several times until I learned a bit more patience.

Thanks for the help. I did not drag the folder it in the 3030 folder so it would not transfer to the detector. It works great now and it was easy to create in XChange2. Now I need to learn how to create other programs and save them in their own folders. Lots to learn about XChange2 but I can see how it saves time. Next learning experience is figuring out how to transfer existing search modes that have been created by other detectorist into the CTX. Thanks again for all the help that was offered.

The next question that you are going to ask is 'how do I control the order the programs are displayed on the CTX screen'. Answer is that the programs are displayed in the order in which they are loaded into the CTX. Take all programs out of the CTX and then put them in there 1 at a time for surest results and least frustration. I know that frustration part really well; but once I figured it out, it stayed with me.
