"I was looking forward to a post from you. I am going to miss my IDX Pro it has been agreat machine ( a real coin picker). But I cant really afford multiple detectors yet.".... Glad to hear that you can appreciate your experiences with the IDX Pro. Too bad you're not in a position to keep two models on hand.
"I joined a local treasure club and I want to start doing some electronic prospecting up near Desolation-sumptner area.".... Which club did you join?
[n]"I thought that the MXT would be a great way to do both coin and prospecting."[/b].... Yes, the MXT was a very good pick since you want to be able to nugget hunt as well as coin shoot. It takes a different level of patience, but do your part and the MXT can fulfill its role.
"I alredy feel I can recognize deeper good targets with the MXT than the IDX. It seemed like the IDX sounded the same even on deep targets.".... Let's just say the two models function differently on deeper targets, and it will also make a difference with the MXT's gain setting. Different, multiple functions for that control compared with the IDX Pro.
"I didnt have the mods done on my IDX and the threshold was way to high for long All metal hunts."... Yes, that too-high audio threshold of the Classic's is annoying. If you get another one in the future, just open it up and adjust the VR4 (Threshold) trimmer to a pleasant setting with the headphones you use.
"I like the MXT very much. I did get the shooter DD coil with it. I also bought a treasuremate pinpointer(great buy highly recomend) so I have shot my load for the year, so I will be waiting till next spring for additional coils for the MXT.".... Good to hear you're working on complimentary coils.
"I will be reading all the great post and hopefully posting some good finds this summer.I hope it doesn't rain this weekend, I want to get some time on the MXT at these military sites.".... How many/which military sites are you working? There is one, in particular, over in far Eastern Oregon I have always wanted to get the OK to hunt. Maybe later this year?
Good luck and remember to report in on your finds and successes with the MXT!
