I was playing with it and the air test depth is ok, nothing like a CZ, but ok,about the same as my Tesoro Lobo St.I also unboxed my Ace 250 and attached the new sniper coil and played with both machines. The thing that really caught my attention here was the fact I could detect a thin 2mm silver chain at an air test of about 4-5 inches consistently with the Minelab and stock coil at 3/4 sens but the Ace 250 would not make even a peep on the chain even with the chain right on the sniper coil? I was impressed with the Minelab!!
Now to find some gold chains to experiment with. Looks like the X50 might be a good freshwater beach machine for gold and silver chains. My Tesoro Lobo St does good on chains too, most detectors can't see them beyond an inch.
Incidentally, I modified the X50 the same day I assembled it. That lower rod was wayyy too long and it hurt my arm/shoulder to swing the machine so I hacked off 2.5 inches from the end of the black pole and relocated the spring clip 3 inches down the rod. My shoulder is thanking me now. I can't swing the coil but maybe in a 2 foot arc now but far less shoulder and arm fatigue.
Still too cold here in Chicago area to detect but March 1 is this week so hope to get out soon? Any other users in my area? Lets get together.
Also, I will be in Greensboro,NC and Lynchburg ,VA area in mid April and was wondering if anybody could take me to some Civil War sites to hunt buttons and relics? Email me at tvanwho@yahoo.com
Thanks
