Traded for a Coinstrike

The bottle caps sound and read like coins. I have read most of the post on the Coinstrike. There seems to be no mention of this.Is my Coinstrike defective?.Not new to detecting . Detecting 35 years Owned about forty or more detectors. Own 11 now. None of them acted this way.....Jack

I hear ya on the bottle caps Jack. I have a C$ too ( picked up a used one about 1 month ago), but have not used it much yet. Had one a while back and rememberd that it did have a penchant for certain type of bottle caps, and liked round objects in general. Sold it, but wanted to try one again. I like it over all.

Are you running it with iron discrim at 99 ? I wonder if you run it at 00, will some of them hit as low tone/high tone and you will not get fooled as much.

Gonna experiement with mine tonight with a few different type caps and see what happens.

I bought one about two months ago and so far I only used it in a cornfield and in the woods, dug only a few steel bottle caps. But I learned the tones and meter reading will bounce a lot when its junk. Coins up to about 6" deep will will lock on pretty good. I keep Iron Disc at 0, I want to hear all low tones. You might do better with some junk when you learn to ignore the bounces. Dan-PA had a C$, he couldn't ID a steel bottle cap from coins and he's well experienced with detectors. Maybe stay away from picnic areas.

Drop the iron Disc. down from #99 a little bit. If your running the sensitivity up high, say over #5, drop it down. Even at #1, sensitivity is quite good.

Listen to the sounds. they sound different than coins, and they don't lock on tight to a number. Pinpointing is another give-a-way. Pinpointing get's a little flunky with caps.

Oh, did I say, sweep briskly, and not slow. It's helps plenty.

I really haven't been bothered by caps. Have I dug a few thinking they were coins, sure, but after a while of learning the detector, it's over come. You can't learn the Coinstrike in a few days of using it.

Let us know how you do.
