Trade...Whites IDX-SL with Bluemax 950 for ACE 250 w/stock coil

If the other person has the Ace 250-- It would be a great deal for him to trade even.

Thank you for the reply.

I have the IDX-SL. I do not really want to part with it. I would like to try a machine with VID. The IDX-SL is a workhorse and I have used it everywhere from wet sand to Clay fields. Has not let me down. I would like to try out a machine with different perks. From Depth meter to notching to VID. Just something new. I have yet to get Mr. Bills mods to my IDX-SL. I read Mr. Bills posts and decided to take his advice and learn the IDX-SL first before getting any modifications to it. I was thinking of sending it in this winter...then I thought maybe I would trade for a ACE 250 or another machine.

Still on the fence. With the holidays coming...buying a different machine is out of the question. Large family means no money for me over the holidays. :)

Thank you,
cladhunter13 - Tim

Just my opionion, but you would be crazy to trade the IDX for an Ace 250.
Depth meters can be useful, but not enough to justify wanting to trade and IDX for an Ace. Don't do it.

i would stick with the clasic, with or without the mods , i think it is a much better detector.

I agree...keep the IDX and get the mods done on it...depth is irrelevant...I just sick the LESCHE in to the hilt and then check the plug and the hole again to see where the target is...You will LOVE the IDX after the mods...If you were to UPgrade, I would get an XLT or perhaps a Fischer F4 or F5...

HH,

The Ace is a great detector for what $260.00 new. In a Ideal hunt site it good detector but in a Heavy trashy area the Ace will NOT TOUCH a IDX PRO.

I don't know the the diff. between a IDX SL and a IDX pro. My brother used a ACE and my hunt buddy used a ID PRO. The ace with a stock coil will hit every little piece junk bigger then a BB. In a High trash it will make one pull their hair out.

Those two detectors aren't even in the same league. The quality of the IDX is top notch, has depth capabilities (especially with that mod) and can keep up with better machines in a wide set of circumstances. The 250 is just a basic box with added features and just holding one will make the decision easy. I in no way mean to slam the Ace (high value cheapo) but it is not an IDX (high value not so cheapo). They were never bottom feeders and a talented detectorist can make them sing.

i own an Ace 250. cost $212.95. is not balanced. will wear your arm out soon after you start swinging. i really enjoyed it the first couple of months but found my xlt to be a much better machine. especially that it's so well balanced. found lots of clad and one or two trinkets. you still have to quess on what it's showing you. prices will be coming down on the 250's as the 350 is out and the at pro ( 250 on steroids ) is coming out in nov.
tell everyone dad is getting what he wants this year. they need to learn how to give just as much as they receive.:yo: keep your whites machine. the ace ain't worth it.

... if I had an Ace 250 and could pick up a nice IDX/IDX Pro. One of the better detectors White's ever made, and if you have Mr. Bill mod that critter it is one of the best all-purpose performers to be had. Yes, I'd trade, if I had an Ace 250 to get rid of.

I have a V3i and an XLT with a bigfoot. My wife, using her IDX Pro, can often beat me. Stick with the IDX, once you learn that thing inside out, it's really hard to beat. It's fast, hits hard, and with the bigfoot, pinpoints easily. As far as ground balancing goes, maybe the mods would give you a little more depth (adjustable GB rather than the pre-set), but it has never seemed to hold her back. I CAN hit deeper targets with the V3i than she can with the IDX, and both the XLT and V3i give better target analysis, but in the places we hunt (the beach, where you scoop nearly everything (faster than IDing) or the parks and schoolgrounds, where its basically modern clad, the IDX is every bit as good as either of my other detectors in netting a bagful of good stuff. Not familiar with the Ace 250 at all, but I have used the 2500 GTI, and although it is a great machine, I still prefer Whites.
