Yeah, Garrett gives a 40% discount on new search coils and metal detectors if you turn in a used one(even if broken/innoperable). This is 40% off what the price listed on their website is. Plus you need to pay shipping and then of course sales tax if in the state of Texas. So, you really need to weigh that against the discounted price that most online dealers already charge plus online dealers usually have free shipping if order is over a certain amount.
Oh yeah, and don't try to get a discount from Garrett on any of the more newly released models. The discount only applies to detectors and search coils on machine that have been out for a while and are in their available stock.
This has been my experience.
