Tracking for discrimination

Anyone ever try this? Say you have a particular nuisance item you would like to ignore. Switch to tracking and swing over the item until the machine ignores it and then switch to fixed. Provided the GB remains stable can you then hunt with the particular item tracked out.

Are you hunting in all metal and not disc?? If not then this wont work as the tracking and lock only works in all metal mode only and not in disc. If you are running in all metal i still don't feel this wouldn't work as i have seen some detectors that are not ground balanced correctly and may not even pick up a larger silver coin that is not that deep. This happened to my wife with a Tesoro at a site that somehow the ground balance got way off and the higher conductivity coins would not give a signal until it was ground balanced.

Don't think that would work,much easier to use notch in disc mode I think
