New to md how deep will the tracker4 work effectively.

In prime conditions you can hit a coin at about 4 to 5 inches, I don't think I have ever hit anything deeper than that unless it was a huge chunk of iron. I have dug quarters at the 4 or 5 inch mark. Dimes can be hit at about the dame too I guess, it's not a deep seeker but It is a great starters machine, and it will find coins when you put the coil over them.

My 2 T4's must be freaks because I can get 50c OZ coins at least 8" deep. Large silver rings at least 8" also, I found a 14k ring on a 14k chain at a depth of 9". $1 and $2 coins 6" to 8" deep. Honestly my T4's have found more than $20,000 plus worth of jewelery and coins in about 2 to 3 years of beach detecting. That's going out once a week average, plus playgrounds (tot lots). I have independent witnesses to verify a lot of my finds and depths if needed. Cheers Nugget.

If your that close to mines ED, hunt AM, with a sweep speed about 5 to 6 seconds, sens set as high as possible without falsing and you may just come up with a nugget or nice specimen or two. Hunt the slopes running into the canyon, flats and detect around any obstacles that might stop a nuggets momentum. Look for where vegetation grows, gold and water are both lazy by nature, and follow the path of least resistance. I've only found one nugget with the T4, as I was, and still are using dedicated gold detectors. Hope I'm not sounding like a know it all, I just like to see people get a win! HH regards Nugget.

P.S. Slingshot, the pile of coins you have there looks a lot like my usual amount of coin finds. The $2 coins in OZ are small and heavy and they soon add up.
Some days I only managed to find $20+ and junk jewelery, other days $90+ and expensive jewelery. I used to hunt Surfers Paradise, huge international tourist turnover, hence the great finds. Plus I'd grid a 300 metre section of beach, parallel to the water taking up to 14 hrs with a few coffee breaks of course. HH regards Nugget.

Nugget, I think you're bit as bad as I am. When I was living with some friends after I lost my job about 10 yrs. ago,,they became worried because I was gone all day. They could only last about an hour or two detecting, but I would be out all day every day but Sunday. Say, a lot of people don't know that if you slow the sweep down on some grounds with the Tracker, it will go deeper. Found that out by accident-would get a click sound in some mineralized grounds and when I rechecked at a slower speed the high tone came in loud and clear.

Most of the coins I have found with my Tracker 4 have been 1-3 inches down. Still learning how to maximize the settings for different types of metal. This is my first MD, got it about a month ago.

[size=medium]Most of my coins were in the 4-5" range with the T-IV as well. In fact I bought a 505 because I was not finding the pre 64 silver or wheaties where I should have been. In the 4 weeks since getting my 505 I have found many more dimes. Some as deep as 8", incl a 1907 barber dime & 3 Sterling silver rings below 6", & quite a few clad dimes where I already used my T-IV. The T-IV is a good machine, especially considering the cost & will find a lot of coins, but depth is not it's strongest point. DOC[/size]

What type of areas are you detecting?, sounds like you made some good finds.
