Tracker IV sporting a new look

Well-known member
Per my prev. post mentioned I was going to rehouse and older BH Tracker IV circuit board.

It now has been completed.
Dumped the meter.
Kept the low battery functioning LED, more or less for looks.
Replaced old disc and sensitivity pots
Replaced Disc/AM/Tone toggle, added on/off toggle
Added volume control
Ground balance pot can be added as a future option.

All neatly housed in an new old stock Gold Mountain control housing.

Will mount under the arm cuff and is detachable.

That is a very nice conversion, high quality to detail as usual

the GMT control housing. That was one of the control housings and rod-mount designs that I liked back in that era. Of course I liked them best when they were stuffed with the Cobra/GMT-1650 electronics. Too bad they did too much copying and cut too many corners and went under. They could have still copied the Tesoro circuitry concept, then improved on it, and those models should have had a Threshold adjustments added. Even though the company was short-lived, I sure found a lot of good stuff with the Cobra/GMT-1650 (same detector) or the King Cobra.

I think you were wise to forget using the useless display. Nice work on the conversion, and I like the control knobs you used as they are 'stylish' and 'look good.' I'm sure you'll get a lot of questions when out hunting with that mod.

Will post some more pix of the s-handle set-up when finished.

Grabbed a Detectorpro Wader s-handle, chucked the lower metal rod.
Replaced the armrest cup with one from a White's Prism.
Added a Tesoro locking coupler to the middle rod.
Finally a Bounty hunter lower rod.
Ready to hunt at 2 1/2 pounds, balances perfectly with the larger coil.

Presented it to my wife today, she loves it. Says it feels lightweight. She does like the tone
break in tone mod and the blue color. She thinks the nugget coil is cute.

Beautiful job....will be interested to hear how it performs. This has got to be "re-cycling" in a very productive form. The Tracker IV is a great machine for coins etc, and your mods have produced a potentially better one. Great work! Looks good too.
