How do you determine the depth of the object after you have zeroed in on it.
 
Try swinging the coil over the target as you raise it up. We all know that the max depth is about 6". If you still get a beep up around 5" you will know it is shallow. If you get a signal after 8" plus, it is more than likely trash/can-slaw. Hope that helps
