Tracker 4 headphone requirements??

fjlee

New member
I have a BH Tracker 4 and I want to connect headphones to it. This Tracker was purchased new.

I have 2-3 sets of headphones here, each with 1/4 inch plug, and they won't work with the Tracker. They work fine in other applications. No sound comes out when plugged into the Tracker.

Maybe I'm using phones with the wrong plug?

Are phones with a stereo plug required? Or should EITHER stereo or mono plugs produce full sound in the phones?

What do I need to get my phones working with my Tracker 4?

Thank you.....

I use my Fender stereo headphones with the 1/4" adaptor. I play the bass guitar. Surprising they work quite well. I'll have to get another set soon.

Some of the Garret headphones work. Check out, www.kellycodetectors.com. You should find all the information you need.

Good luck.

I agree with MWB in that the detector is probably defective. Any 1/4" headphones should work and you should get sound in one or both ears depending on how the jack is wired ..

It's not true that any adapter should work. I have 2 adapters. Same size/specs. One works in my detector, other one doesn't. And both work fine in all other equipment. Buy a adapter, see if it works. If not. Return it. Until you find one that does. And yes, there is always the possibility the detector jack is defective. Also, I have headphones, that one set works in the detector, and another won't. Wish I could tell you why this happens, but it does happen.

Folks, thank you for the reponses. Please keep suggestions and comments coming.........

It's a mystery to me.........

I'm not using any adapters..........

Briefly borrowed some generic-looking headphones this afternoon with 1/4 inch stereo plug........and to my complete surprise, they worked fine in my Tracker 4. Sounded good, really.

I have several headphones here.....all with 1/4 inch plug, some with mono plug, and some with stereo plug, and they all work fine in various devices here. But they will NOT work in my MD.

I have sent an email to BH........no response yet. The BH Tracker 4 manual doesn't say squat about 'phone usage. Kinda pee's me off....!!

As the Tracker 4 was designed, does anyone know whether it's designed to be used with headphones with a mono plug or a stereo plug?
