tough park gives up Buffalo nickle

I got to detect a little bit today before the weather changes. Went to a Park that gives up little now days. I was detecting in the grass with a Vaquero . Disc set a little over minimum, sens 10 , threshold at 1 oclock. I got a deep nickle signal but deep nickle signals usually end up being a shallow 22 bullet or something. I cut the plug the and pinpointer picked up nothing. After digging the depth of the Lesche I got a signal in the middle of the hole . Now I was thinking old nickle. Another scoop full and I saw it in the dirt. A 1937 Buffalo. The Vaquero hits the nickles deep , but so many things disc out there I never really expect it. Also old nickles sometimes disc out a lot higher.

Good save Hatpin. I been hitting a spot that turns up a goodie now and again. Dug a bunch of tabs. No old coins this time. It is nice to get a oldy sometimes. The cold is coming. I just cant wait... KEN

Nice going on the old Indian nickel, those things are fun to find! I was just wondering do you have the standard tone or the high tone vaquero? Do these nickel signals when deep sound short in sound? I have a lot more trouble dechipering the difference in tones when using my vaquero compared to other tesoro units and it is the tesoro I started with.

Yep, good save! The Vaquero hits those nickels hard and deep.

I have the standard tone.

I have a tough time id'ing nickles too. This signal was short and mellow in disc and all metal. It disc out around the nickle mark but a lot of things do that especially 22 bullets. I just dig em all.

Nice one you can read the date, you have made some really good finds,

Since it's a nice clean-dated '37, it wouldn't happen to be a '37 D with the 3-legged Buffalo, would it?
