Located a very early site late in the day. My first target was a flat button and the second target was this...

Thanks for looking and hopefully weather permitting next weekend I can get out there again and find some serious old stuff! :)

Awesome finds Steve! Hope the weather holds out for you.

You know how to do the leg work to find these spots. You know your machine and what to look for:thumbup:
I don't see you:cry: about not having any good spots to dig. Those are the kind of finds I like to see.
Hope you pull a hand full of golden ones this year.

Thanks for lettin me touch a little History thru you.:detecting:

Yes sir! You are right on Lizardchaser and thank you for the pics to demonstrate it. The next challenge is finding all the tiny scrap pieces that have been scattered on hilltop. Then I can concentrate on what is underneath. Thanks again buddy!

The high for Saturday will be 47* not bad but will have to contend with frozen ground, NOT a problem with the good ole pick axe!

part of a currie comb for combing a horse.

I found a brass one like that last year which I first thought it was for cutting string or paper (I am old enough to remember old stores having paper in large rolls and no bags, they wrapped your purchase in paper and there was a sharp edge on the paper roll holder.) It however fits on a handle with 3 other similar pieces and is a horse comb. I could not speculate and age other than maybe late 19th c.

Nice loot!

I'm reading right now a book on early military life and they explain how important it was keeping your horse well groomed, rested and feed properly to keep the horse in tip top shape and well cared for to endure long journeys. If not...you were walking!
