Totally UNHAPPY with my AT Pro today!

I sent my AT pro back in after it crapped out on the 4th of July holiday week. I had it in the salt water for a few hours over two days. Well I got it back last week and took it out this morning for a spin in the salt at Clearwater beach. Well it only took about 4 hours before it started freaking out on me again. It became totally unusable just like before. When I sent it in to get repaired and upgraded I asked if I will be able to go in salt water and the answer was yes. It's gonna go back again and trust me it will never see salt water again and most likely it will be for sale as soon as I get it back. I am completely disappointed in this product. If anyone knows anyone at Garrett feel free to forward them this message.

should have taken your Sand Shark

I am unhappy with mine as well.

I got to really get out to use mine yesterday. As soon as I tried to get the detector to ground balance, all I could get it to do was warble like a mockingbird and the indication stayed at 92. I kept trying and trying moving from place to place to no avail. I messed with it attempting to for go the ground balance with crappy results. After a while I tried the ground balance again and it worked fine but by that time it was getting dark.

I am not going to keep screwing with this detector. There is no excuse for all of these issues. One needs to be able to just flip a switch and enjoy what they paid a small fortune to obtain.

I hunted with my AT Pro yesterday submerged for about two hours on purpose. Heard so many complaints. Mine worked fantastic. Then I took it home and hosed it down to get the lake water off. Very happy with mine.....Jack

u just need to undestand how it works.

Sorry but I could not resist commenting on this one. His problems with his detetctor have nothing to do with understanding how it works. Some people always want to use the operator error card.

I don't think you read the entire thing. What he said was

"u just need to undestand how it works. or may be u get a 'non workin properly 'atpro."

I realize you can read the whole thing two ways but it can also mean that he received a bad At Pro to start with.

I second that.

For water hunting, I need a reliable water machine.

My AT Pro had leaking problems right out of the box. For me that's not reliable. And mine wasn't even an early version. For me, I don't care how many people don't have leaking issues, the fact is for me that mine did. And all the testimonials of how well some do in the water didn't help me. I understand that all water units will have issues in time if used over and over, but right out of the box is ridiculous.

It kind of looks like we are the R&D department at Garrett. To a certain extent that is somewhat expected but it kind of ticks me off when they start talking about a new model when the AT Pro has obviously not been thought through very well. I for one would not buy another Garrett until I see more pleased customers. In fact if they refunded my cost, I would simply go elsewhere.

I was so happy to get rid of my AT Pro that I didn't care about losing money because now I own a true reliable water machine of a different brand.

the defective ones in on the new Garrett coming out. That is apply the orig. amount paid. Wouldn't that be wonderful.
