The best hunt was in 1997. I went to a place where a bulldozer dug out about 3' ( feet)deep spot to put a house there and to put new dirt in the hole. The old dirt they pushed up in a big pill . It started raining in they had to stop working for about 3 weeks. The man said I could hunt the ground there. Well at the time I had a cz 20 with a 8 " coil . The first day 23 seated half came out of the pill of dirt. So over the next 2 week I moved all the dirt and hunted it and ending up with 108 seated half, 18 seated quarters, 1 seated dime , 7 =8 reals, and a few barber coins. I put it in the west & east treasure on the year book on page 26 about half was trough the 2 weeks on hunting. The next best hunt was a few years later went to a old school that they bulldozer took off about 4 " of dirt about a square block and they were going to make a new school. The said I could hunt for 3 days and then they were going to fence it up and no one could go in then. Well in the 3 days I got $296.00 face value of silver coin dime , quarters, and half were every where. I could not move but about two feet with getting hit. I did get some clad and a lot of wheat and some indian heads. The coin dates were from 1900 to 1958?? I have had a lot of good hunt on other days too. Most of the time I hunt old house. Got a 1949 quarter yesterday with the f75 and the 3x7" coil and a few wheat. The photos are just some of the half.
