I guess that term covers all the kiddy play grounds. I think it was last year, an excellent friend said to check them out,A source of gold and riches. Okay, I found a dime..Now thinking that I may revisit a few times and see what turns up.. There is a big field where the little ones play soccer and foot ball, with moms and dads watching on the grass.I figure everything will be shallow, so DISC at iron, and sens at 6 max,, much as I used on the volley ball sand pit..I wish I had my Silver U Max and you guys around back in 1960. I'll take the latter part back, I don't wish old age on anyone...Cordially NAD

They do get tricky with all the equipment you gatta go around and you must remember to DUCK and stay low. I have had many ringers on my dome. But they are good for finding things. I have found my one and only 14k necklace w/ 14k pendent in a tot lot. not to mention a 1920 silver cameo of a greek god. Very interesting piece. and many rings hot wheels, and my latest tot lot find. the 925 cross pendent. Dont forget to check under and around the baby swings. Parents lose stuff there to, I have found keys and a 925 toe ring and a pack of mentos the fresh maker. all by the baby swings. although soccer fields are my fav spot. Good luck.

Ive only hit one, only thing I found was a penny. We do have quite a few around here. Will hit some more soon & hopefully find more. BH Time Ranger,VibraProbe 570. Lesche digger.

My best trip to a tot lot . 3 gold rings and a few bucks in change . Tot lots have been good to me . Be sure to check next to those swings !!:detecting:

Ditto on tot lots. It takes a lot of patience with tot lots and volleyball courts. You have to keep hitting them regular. Many-many times I do not find anything valuable. But some of my best finds come from tot lots and volleyball courts. You can't go two or three times and say they are no good. Made many good finds in tot lots. I have several I hit once a week. Like I said it takes a lot of patience.....Jack

Ya know, I surely must lead a sheltered life. I keep seeing this number "925" floating and have no idea what it means! Help.....!

Hay Silver Smith,

925 means 925 parts silver 75 parts something els.

It's 925 devided by 1000 = 92.5% silver.

Sterling has a little more or less silver, I can't remember

exactly.

If I am wrong about any of this, someone correct me.

Well thanks...........with a username like mine and I didn't know that  But, I choose that name cause i just love finding silver (never found a gold coin) and my name really is Smith! :bounty:forever!

I myself have the Outback which was my first machine and my hubby has the Lonestar. I also hunt the Fisher F2 which I like better.

hi Dobbie. It's an oldie, but I like it. It has multi tone + digital id'ing. It's called a Big Bud Pro 220-d. When I bought it I got all three coils. I'm sure there's better stuff out there now but I still have lots o fun with it.

Will hit a tot lot Monday morning for an hour. Did a lot of reading about hunting them, some fantastic ideas. Recuperating from hitting Big yard at an old house...Some clad, some wheat cents. One came up green, thought I'd gotten an Indian, just a 1919P. A Barber dime 1897, bent and worn, but Silver..And, two horse shoes. How is that for a kick.? Had to dig them out and bring both home...Silver U Max was picking the dime and wheat cents out at four inches or so..That is leaving me two inches of slack, in ground, on these coins? Have been using this detector about 8 days now..,Starting to get some experience guessing by the sound. The Indian was over shadowed by another item and had a "slurred" sound.... So back to the tot lot.... Horse shoes are supposed to be good luck, wonder what two will do for me?

Well nad, if you live in California, you had a hell-of-a-day! Very seldom do I find a silver coin, vertually ix-nay on pre 1900. Thanks for the listing. Ron.

Hit the tot lot Monday morning..VERY INTERESTING..Only targets were either buried and there for a while, or just left..I figure I stepped in someones territory, who does foot scraping, no digging.Maybe the coins buried are markers to see if anyone is digging in the sand box..Strange, found a quarter, and a Mexican 5 dol coin , sort of a brass plug center in a nickel outer rim.. Both buried and there for a while. Can't figure how they were dropped and not seen. The small pieces of semi precious stones in holders, were frustrating. I had to grab a hand full of stuff, put it on a bench and move it around until I found the target..Regarding finding silver coins, if you don't find Barbers at an old house, it was either searched or filled..You come in from California and don't find any when we go out, I'll take a hand full of Barbers out of the desk, throw them in a field and say" Yours" Right now $3.50 in quarters in desk, all good.???on dimes. Don't know about halves, think I gave the last one away to a gal with problems,,,sort of a silver lining for the dark cloud..This pile is from years back, will start on the," Dollar in Silver," then "Ten" and so on......The game is knock and ask.Rains came, will be going out cordially nad.

Tot lots, especially in the bark area are easy money. I found my second gold ring - 14k with a Sapphire by a set of swings just under the surface of the bark chips.
