:detecting: Wow I'm rich. Not in wealth you know, but just enjoying life. I don't show any gold that I get, but none found today anyway. I don't know the little round brass thing is (third item from the left on bottom row. It is very thin with the opposite side relieved and has writing on that side. It was a good 6 inches deep. In fact the two small items on either side of it were also about six inches deep. The little very rusted iron ball is about 1/4 inch in diameter. The Penny was quite deep (about 8 inches in the soil under the sand). The other 3 clad coins were about 2 inches deep. I was using the Vaquero this morning and am impressed on how deep it will read very small items. The game was 6 inches deep and read like foil. It was encrusted with sand and the stick-on face was rotted off. I cleaned it up, flipped the switch on the back and it came up and played (go figger). This old man is bushed, but it was a very nice hour and a half. Bill in Texas :tesoro:

:detecting: Here is the one most amazing thing I found in the tot lot this morning with the Vaquero. I thought I had lost it. It is a piece of enameled brass from a child's jewelery item. It is about the size of a BB (.18 inch diameter) and is about 1/32 of a inch thick so I put it under a Bug's Eye magnifier. It was at least 3 inches deep. I have not used this Vaquero that much and am still learning the sounds, but it is a great machine. It has the standard coil on it and I have never had a machine with that size coil soooo sensitive to small targets. I have always liked Tesoro, but I am still impressed. Bill in Texas :tesoro:

Hay Bill,

I too am finding the Vaquero to go really deep on small items.

I was going to use my Compadre on a playground this morning, but it
stopped working, so I used my Vaquero.

The playground was constructed over ground that is rich in iron trash
as well as bottle caps and pull tabs. I have been hunting in all metal
with the V, but the iron made that impractical. I put the disc just above
iron and got use to the voice of the V.

I can't stop it from going deep, but I quickly became real good at judging
depth with the rich tone of the V.

I found this 14k gold piece under some iron playground equipment. It was
close to a pole. It seemed to be about 4" deep. That really supprised me
when I found it in that big hole. It's 1/4" wide and only weighs 0.80 grams.

It gave a weak signal, but I was able to pick it out in all that mess.

That really impressed me. I checked it with a quick air test. The disc mode
would pick it up at about 5". But the all metal would only do about 3 1/2".

To me, that's pretty impressive.

I don't think the Compadre would have responded to that gold piece as
deep as it was..

That's the only good thing about Speedy pooping out!!!

Happy Hunting,

Tabdog
