Tot lot cruise with AT Pro..

Well, I've been so tied up lately that I was just ITCHIN' to get out and swing the detector a bit. Naturally my window of opportunity was at night and when the temps were in the 30's..lol! You take what you get I guess, so I headed out to a tot lot that I know gets hit somewhat frequently, but I haven't hunted it since last year. The last time there I found a jar full of pennies (not a jar mind you, enough to FILL a jar) and a Tiffany necklace with the ACE. I hoped for another jewelry item, but oh well..not to be.

I set up the detector with 4 bars of sensitivity, ground balanced and ran in PRO zero mode. I got a little concerned right at first when the detector wasn't going off multiple times on my swings (trash) when I suddenly got a hit in the 70's, penny target, that said 10+ on the depth. So I started digging with the idea that the depth was probably incorrect (happens with the ACE) but was quickly brought to reality when I finally found a very ugly penny at the bottom of the mulch, sitting on top of the weed barrier. This was a GOOD 10 inches for sure! As I worked the lot over, this theme kept repeating itself almost everywhere I went. Sure, there were some nice double beeps indicating shallow targets, but they were few and far between. The only trash targets were pop tabs and small bits of foil, and even those were not in abundance for the typical tot lot trash.

I got home around 10:30 and immediately had to get to work on typical prep for the workweek, so I didn't even unload my finds bag! So I'll get a good count and pics later tonight but here's the one thing that sticks in my mind after that hunt. SO MANY TARGETS RANG OUT IN THE 10+ RANGE, AND WERE THAT DEEP, THAT I CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT NOBODY ELSE'S DETECTOR WAS FINDING THESE COINS! Literally some of these coins were so discolored and corroded that I had to go by size to identify them!

I'll update with pics tonight!

Alright Piledriver !! Thats what I want to hear. That should reopen somemore ground I haven't visited for a while.

Sorry for the bad quality of the pic! Hopefully I can get out another few nights this week and try out a few other picked over tot lots. I'm itchin' to see what else may come out of the deep mulch!

I experienced the same results as you did Pyledriver, Was digging extremely deep coins at a couple of local tot lots locals hunters had missed and these same tot lots are hit several times a week.

No doubt about the depth, The AT Pro gets serious depth both tot lot and park turf.
