OK guys never owned or used the Racer models . been reading about them and watching videos on them . getting ready to spend some money on a new detector.
Q: What are you using now, and have you even used a Nokta FORS series model?
Q: What detecting applications do you want to use it for?
Q: Will this be a model change to only have one detector, or a complement to what you use now? If a complement, what are you using?
Q: Are you asking about the 'original' Racer or the newer Racer 2?

I have a few questions
1 ergonomics "they look cumbersome by the shape of the Rod"
2 any other coils available for it say like NEL coils
A to #1: The Racer series is not 'cumbersome,' but the original Racer and Racer 2 did have different 'S' curve rods and grips. Someone mentioned last week that the Racer now uses the more relaxed 'S' curve rod of the Racer 2, bu8t I haven't heard that from the Nokta/Makro folks. Both styles work OK but I prefer the newer lazy S angle as it isn't as abrupt.
A to #2: Yes, there are after-market coils made my NEL, CORES and others, but I'll share my personal; opinion that I prefer the Makro supplied line of search coils. Oregon Gregg, Cal_Cobra and others will comment on the NEL coils they use or others, I am sure.

want make my decision until after May 6th as this is when another mfg is releasing a new detector . as well as a few other mfg releases just did not want to mention them here on this forum if its not OK
Who is releasing a new model about May 6th, and what other manufacturers have newer models coming?
One reason some detector makers are hard at work is because they need new product, some have fallen behind, and almost all of them have some catching up to do with what we have had coming out from Nokta Detectors and Makro Detectors for 2½ years now ...
and continuing this very moment. Many newer competitor models are going to try and offer some of the features found on the Racer 2, as well as Nokta FORS Relic and even the just released Nokta Impact, but they are going to have to compete with a quality built product, and also compete with the balance and feel, in-the-field performance, and, let's not forget, .... MSRP. Quite a challenge for them to face.
Consider what is offered and compare features and price with any of the Makro or Nokta detector models, then select what you think will best fit your needs. That's what I have done, and I keep adding duplicate models of what works well for me.
