hi everybody, got my wife's excal back from Vegas today. went there for a new coil, came back with a tornado coil on it. are a stock coil and a tornado coil the same. is one better than the other? need help finding out the answer. thanks all. Jeff

The tornado is a very good coil.......super deep and plenty light ...I dont know what you had on there before, but I do know the tornado is great......My deepest coin find was made with a ten inch tornado .........its a good one !!!!!!

The older BBS coils are not being made anymore and replaced with the new lighter weight Tornado coil. I don't know on the 8 inch, but do know the 10 inch Tornado coil is lighter and seems to be more sensitive and I get more depth with the Tornado coil than I did with the 10 inch BBS coil. I think you will like this coil better on your Excalibur.

My GT came with a 10" Tornado coil. Yesterday, I took it to the beach for the first time ever. I did use it (the coil) in the water.

Today, I used the GT, and my threshold tone was really scratchy. There was sand stuck between the outside rim of the coil and the body of the coil. I turned it upside down and tapped it until I could no longer see any sand running out.

That seems to have taken care of the problem.

Just a heads up, your mileage may vary.
