Took Vaquero to the park..found a ring

Hello all, so I met up with member on another forum today at a local park. Its part of a circuit of parks that have carousels in the area and they date to the 20's so I figured there might be somethin good. This was my 4th time out with the Vaquero and I'm still learnin it. The area was pretty trashy, so the 5.75 coil is def calling my name. I think I'm gettin myself a christmas gift, lol. But anyways, my buddy found the best coin out of us, a 1920 somethin mercury dime, but amongst the trash I managed to find some clad, a 1941 wheaty and this ring. Theres some writing on the inside of it but idk if its a makers mark or initials, i cant get a close enough pic...i dont even know if its silver, but by the weight of it, it prolly is. Especially if initials are on it. Let me know what you think

Great going. That sure looks like a old silver ring to me. It sounds like you have some good places to hunt.

I'm getting pumped to do some detecting. :detecting:

Rain rain go away so tabman can go out and play.

I weighed it..its 10 grams

Always nice when you think your digging a silver dime or quarter to find a ring instead. You will be impressed with the 5.75 coil, pin points great not much if any difference in depth from the stock coil either

Nice work, its so fun to find rings. They just pop up when you least expect it.

Thanks for the responses...its my first silver ring by the way

Do all silver rings have a makers mark? cuz this ring has initials on it, but i dont see .925 or anything. There is a mark next to the initials but i cant make it out

congrats on the ring Bobby. Looks like you are learning the Vaq nicely.

Sometimes the 925 is so small it can hardly be read even with a loupe. It can be written at the bottom of a small indentation.
It can be so small as to be written on the pin of an earring
An older ring will sometimes only have a makersmark.
The fact that it has a makersmark gives good chance of precious metal.

Well what I can read on it are the letters SCD which must be someone's initials...and then there's two little marks next to it that I can't make out...they look like little lines.

Not all rings that have the 92.5 stamp are silver. Some rings without the 92.5 stamp are silver. I read somewhere a women was buying a piece of jewelry and after examining it stated that it was not a real silver ring. The maker of the silver ring said it was silver. The lady said no it isn't, because it doesn't have 92.5 stamped on it. The jeweler said hold on minute let me get my stamp so I can make it into a real silver ring.:)
