Took the Yeller Feller out...

this morning for a 3 hr. hunt. It had been getting lonely as I have been water hunting the past couple of weekends and not doing too much land hunting cuz of this wretched heat. Well, I went back to a spot at the local middle school that has been producing a nice bunch of clad for me. I have already cherry picked the easy stuff, so armed with the 250 set to coins mode and Sniper coil, I set about getting the hard stuff from among the bunches of assorted trash. I got a few coins that read initially as just below a penny because the 250 was evidently reading the canslaw and quarter together. I got the canslaw out first and the quarter rang up correctly. Had nearly the same thing happen a couple of times with a pulltab and a dime. No jewelry this time, but my nickle count is going up every time out with the 250. It just loves them!!

Hope everybody had a great weekend hunting!!

What type of mineralization do you have where your at? Heavy, Lite, Med ?

My Ace is awful at nickels, but I have yet to send it in. I think I will do that tomorrow.

AJ from Royal's forum here: I just dropped over to see what was going on.

I dunno what kind of mineralization we have here--probably light or medium. The only other place I have detected was in California in the 1970s. SO I don't have much in the way of comparison.

But, Jim, my 250 loves nickles. They read like the square tabs and sound almost identical. So I know that I must dig the bad to get the good, concerning nickles.

If the ace is not delivering with air tests, I'd send it in for a little check-up. I've owned many different machines and I must say, THIS one is my favorite. <><

We got mostly black texas dirt, pretty much the same as in Garland, the birthplace of the Yeller Feller. Not too much mineralization here. Now if I go a few miles west, out into the Hill Country, hot rocks and mineralized stuff everywhere.

Nice batch of clad B.C.D. :)

Yep, I wouldn't think of going on a hunt without a small coil in the arsenal, no matter which detector I take. Let's you get right in amongst all the trash and get the goodies. Great around trees too, let's you get right up next to them where a nice old coin might be hiding.

From the land of the Bluenose...nice to see a hunt end with a good coin total that can be used for a Tim's ,Bud or gas.

Still plugging away here every chance I get at the ballfield looking for those two diamond rings. Sure if they are there the old Freedom three Plus will find them. Nice to be around the ballfield and not having to ump or play as this old body is still recovering from the PEI trip. Thanks for sharing and continued good hunting!
