Called Ron yesterday and ordered the MXT. Can't wait to get it on Thursday and hope the storm goes out to sea so I get chance to use it. I hunt mostly Cocoa beach area wet sand and waters edge. With the test I've see on the MXT I should have a advantage over some of my competition as far as small gold. Any tips would be appriciated.
HH Tom

I prefer relic mode, hi gain if beach will allow it. Low disc. You can switch to prosp mode to check iron content. I rely on VDI # heavily. I would dig alot of targets to figure out what the MXT is telling you. I prefer DD coils, 5' excel for trashy sites,6 by 9 for coverage. Have fun.

Tom I have a xlt and it's not that great on wet sand. I hunt Staten Island, The Jersey Shore and Coney Island. Is the MXT a good detector for Wet Sand? I was thinking of getting one.
Thanks,
HH Mike

Hi guys i have the MXT and before that the XLT and in my opinion they are not good for wet sand detecting, brilliant on dry sand and dirt.I used to have the minelab sovereign that detector you could even use underwater and it was dead quiet,no false signels.
My mate has the minelab explorer, when we do the beach togather i would ask him when he has a signal could i check it out with the mtx there were plenty of times that the mxt could not read the signal.

I should get my MXT on Thursday but with Frances making a Bulls Eye where I live it may be a while befoe I can say how I like the MXT. First place I will hunt will be the wet and dry sand so I will keep you posted. Will compair it with my Sovereign and CZ 20 on small gold.

Tom I will watch for your results. I also want a gold detector so the MXT sounds good to me. Let me know how you do. Where are you planning on hunting?
HH Mike

Staten island Mike, Hi, i have used the MXT in our West Aus highly mineralized goldfields and was impressed at how it would find match head nuggets at 2inches depth, belive me thats good for the hot ground that we have here,it was also good for when i decided to find some miners relics as i turned the discriminator up and ignored most of the steel that was scattered around.Unfortunatly i didnt find any gold but brought home some nice relics.
Cheers Raoul

After 34 years of detecting in all kinds of beach sand all over the world, the best one I have used is the very OLD Compass 77B
