I walked an old river road that has very steep hills leading down to it. Looking for a flat spot that could have been used for a cabin or house. About 500 yards in I found what i was looking for. Right off the bat I saw two old bottles so I knew the place was used. Started detecting and found a copper thimble right away. Metal was everywhere, so much that I was forced to turn the sensitivity down and the disc up. Lots of deep good sounding signals , but could not recover anything but square nails. There was rock used for a foundation everywhere "flat limestone" with lots of good sounding signals under it. I just couldnt recover anything with just a Lestch digger. I will have to return with a shovel. I estimate this place to be habitated in the mid 1800s.
