TOOK the Plunge!!!

[color=#33FF00]Just ordered a new Excalibur II 800 and a 1000! While the recent older model Excalibur is a wonderful water machine, they do have some issues in saltwater. They did find lots of gold for me and many others too... and still will! But because they are rather susceptible to salt and electrical interference, I had a Love - Hate relationship with them. Yet, the Excalibur was always my #1 water detector, and I have tried most. I have spoken with several informed people, and have decided the Excal II really is an improved version . In my book, that means more GOLD!

At first I was not sure if I should spend the money and take the plunge. But when I heard Minelab so much as admitted there were known problems with blue Excalibur, that made up my mind! Do not get me wrong here. I think Minelab is a great company and makes some of the best detectors. Thank you Minelab! In this case though, I feel Minlab actually did reevaluate Excalibur, and made a fix, thanks to their their technicians. And that is enough for me to purchase new! But the verdict is still out. Also, I really wish Minelab would take things to the next level. For cry in out loud, how about a factory balance shaft with arm cuff strap? They did it with Sov GT. Don't they see all the Excalibur after market shafts for sale on ebay? The factory Excalibur shaft is very uncomfortable to use for any length of time. An after market balance shaft is 1000% better! On a $1,300.00 detector, why must I purchase an after market shaft? I just bet Minelab could make a good one!

Then too, Excalibur coils should be interchangeable! If Tesoro, Garrett and Detector Pro can do it, then why not Minelab? Just think how wonderful it would be if we could have our choice of factory coils from say 5 to 15 inches! Oh well, perhaps in 5 years or so on next Excalibur III? But I am happy to see Excalibur II!

I'm anxious to see how the #2 works out for you.

HH, Bottlebum

P.S. Why make the coils interchangable when all they have to do is sell another machine with the coil already on it? LOL

I for one, are probably as anxious as you are to get the new machines. I can't wait to hear your report on them.

I sell the Excalibur II for $1198.97. Did you get a better deal?

Other than some basic field testing, it will not be until February when I travel to Caribbean with Excal IIs. There, I will know within a few days just how much better, if any the Excal II is. Surely others may report prior to me. But I will post my findings here. I and my group have used Excalibues in Caribbean often. So I will also post what their views. CC.

I figured you would go there. You set a trap. Well I escaped. And again, yes I got a better deal from a dealer. I would suggest Excalibur II buyers should shop around for the best deal. And remember, a deal is an agreement between buyer and seller, and often involves more than paying the advertised price! Most dealers are willing to bargain. The American and Free Enterprise way! I just edited your sales pitch out of your post.

Q: Guess what non-sponsoring dealers did here forever and still try to do?

A: They put what appears to be legitimate happy customers on the forum giving good information spiced with where they got their good deal. They all did it on a very regular basis until we banned it.

Q: How can the owner of the forum tell the difference between a legitimate happy customer and a planted version of a happy customer?

A: He can't. They look identical on purpose.

Solution: If someone comes on and isn't a banner buyer you cannot mention them. It's real simple and stops the confusion.

Thanks to those of you who post here and respect the rules. You buying from dealers on here allows this site to continue to prosper with their advertising dollars which just bought another server in the last year with even more space and speed.

Have a Merry Christmas everyone.

Guvner..

What a "better deal" would be is actually a tough call, since if another dealer were to offer the SAME machine for the SAME price and throw in a free Minelab hat (or a free straight shaft, as another example) that would STILL be a "better" deal, wouldn't it? I doubt anybody is undercutting the "bottom line" Minelab price, so it must be some kind of "value-add" like that.
