After many many tries at repairing my excal II I took the plunge and sent it back for repair. Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions on a possible fix.
The tech told me it would be at least 6 weeks before it was looked at. :(
To day is 8-23 we will see what the turnaround time is on this one.

Bet you have another machine before it gets back. Better yet, you have a water coil on the other one before it gets back. Got the other oe ready in case you need it Straight shaft this time.

I sent my Excal. 2 in for repair on July 8th.I am anxious to get it back.It was falsing a lot ,even though the sensitivity was down to 3.

I sent mine in March. they said 1 month so I bought a new one, and lucky I did because I did not get mine back until June. Now the new one I bought wigged out and will have to be sent in..Needless to say its the last excal I will ever buy.

Sure sounds like the build quality with the newer machines isn't quite the same!

At least six weeks and maybe they'll get to look at it????

Garrett and Whites both had my machines back " SUPER FAST" to my door when they needed service !!!:clapping:

Not the same Minelab since sold IMHO:confused:

I was on the line about a possible Minelab purchase, but not now!

A friend of mine's GT has been there since the end of May and he still doesn't have it back!!!!!

Good Luck!!!!

Ouccchhh!! That would really hurt.. I hope it does not take them too long. I have bought another detector though and not a Minelab..

Good Luck? Mine's been in since end of June. Got a call 3 weeks ago that I'd here from the techs in two. At least I've got a back up.

Minelab's Brand New Customer Service Manager

His Name is Ewout Kozel

His E-Mail Address is Ewout.Kozel@minelabusa.com

I believe he is located in Chicago

Look on the bright side, you should be all ready for next season(as long as they fix it properly first time round)

I was lucky, sorta. I sent my Excal in August, 09. After they located it, (it was lost within their warehouse), the turnaround was not that long. They even fixed it for less than what was originally stated. Now, the not so lucky part. The unit worked fine through the fall, but around February when I started using it again, the thing started acting up.
Will not stabilize.
Falses all the time but as long as the items were shallow, I could use it.
The discrimination quit working, lucky for me it quit where I still could pick up gold.
All of this and I knew from my sisters experience, Minelab's service was now taking forever. I had to decide to dump more money into it or like sis, just buy another.
Sold my gold rings (ARA, Dallas, Tx) $1690.00, and I am the PROUD owner of a Fisher CZ-21.
I will not buy from Minelab again.

I just did the same myself and picked up a new CZ-21. As much as I've been wanting an Excal, I chose the Fisher because of Minelab's customer service issues. Still may get an Excal down the road but only after they get their act together. I love my PI machine, and DetectorPro's service is absolutely the best, but it'll be nice to use some discrimination and save me from digging a hole or two.
