Well I've been watching this forum ever since the CTX was announced. I joined the Minelab club 3 years ago when I bought my Etrac. Its really been an awesome detector and I have made some good finds with it. I have a buddy who was out with me hunting this spring using his SE and after we were done for the day and I had some silver and other stuff and 1 place particular where he was pretty much skunked he commented that he thought it was time to "upgrade". So I knew he was looking to go the way of the Etrac. Well I turned my computer on that evening and had an email from Minelab, it was the introduction to the CTX3030 so I forwarded him the email with something to the effect of , you have got to see this....
So he preordered and received it and has learned alot about it already and while he has been pretty much limited to water hunting due to the extreme heat and dry weather, has made some really good finds with it already. I have been debating all along about jumping from my Etrac but I have just read too much, and saw too many good finds from places that had been thoroughly hunted with the Etrac so I checked around and compared prices and after a few phone calls found an awesome deal from the folks at Big Boys Hobbies, kudos to them and I would recommend anyone considering a new detector to talk to them before making the final purchase, I think they will make you happy. I ordered Friday afternoon and as I said, it is scheduled for delivery tomorrow, so now I am starting all over in a way but in another way I am already ahead of where I was when I began with the Etrac as they are similar in some ways. So I hope to join you folks in discussion and more importantly in learning the machine and finding the good stuff with it!! As the water hunting winds down over the next 2 months around here I hope to be familiar enough with the CTX to hit the ground running when we go full force back into land hunting and actually know what I am doing with it.
