Took the old Film Camera out today for a little fun...

I was just digging around the closet looking for my old hiking boots when i came across my ol camera
bag. In it is this old dinosaur! From the mid 80's. Pentax's Super Program 35mm Auto Program Camera.
This was the baby that was gonna launch my photography career yes sir! I was planning to get the
LX body later on. But it never happened. Life decided I will go a different route and the photograph thing
just remained a hobby. At least for a little while.

So just for the heck of it I picked up some A76 batteries and a few rolls of the only film I could
find at this particular drug store. And this morning I jumped in the truck and headed north on Hwy
49 up past Auburn Calf.
I shot two rolls of 24's there along 49. Now it's been years since I fooled around with a manual
camera and when I finished the first roll I plum forgotten about rewinding the film and opened the back
of the Pentax! YIKES! Luckily I only ruined a couple shots. You can bet I remembered to rewind
after the second roll! Then another small set back. I left my truck's key in the cab. Locked! Yikes
again! I picked the lock with the trucks radio antenna and retrieve my keys and went on my way
Anyway these scanned prints are nowhere near as the original but it was really fun to get out
there and have to really think about it before I fired one off. Digital has really spoiled me.

Depth of Field was something I could never achieve with my digital camera(s) unless I'm in macro. But look how extreme it can be with just a standard 50mm lens.

Wow, looks like you had all the gadgets for that camera back then!! That old Pentax can still take a pretty nice photo!!

Looks like you had a good time,,.. especially in the cemetery.. I shoot in cemeteries a lot as I'm fascinated by them...
I recently sold my old Pentax K1000, as it was gathering dust in the closet.
I am all digital and as much as I loved film, I'm never going back! lol..

I get great bokah with my digitals...

Here's another with the same lens..
A flower singled out in a flowerbed of many...

I still use my Minolta XG7 for pictures that matter. Remember 35mm film has a resolution of approx. 25 megapixels.
But digital is cheap to develop!! Now if I could only find the manual for my scanner.
I think it would be nice to have say digital pics of finds, and maybe a few 35mm's of the area (If warranted).
I've been T'ing in some pretty nice areas before.

My old Canon AE1 with every lense and accessory waits in the closet. Prhaps someone will invent a device that you can lay in the back of these old setups and create digital imags from these old SLR bodies....

Well here's a update!
I picked up a Pentax KX digital camera and it accepts all my old Manual Focus lenses! The body is kinda heavy but the lenses the came with it are very light. So when I stick on the old 80-200 MF sigma lens it as heavy as a tank!
There's just so much BS on these modern cameras. I'm never gonna learn to use all it's features less I live to be a hundred.
