Took the O8 to the beach

Took the O8 to the beach today and she was quiet as a mouse until it hit coins. The quietest machine I ever used on the beach.Sensitivity was turned up to 99 disc at 50.D-3 on tones it was a very impressive.Anyone looking for a good beach detector may want to look in to the O8.Just my two cents.

Thanks for the good report. Everyone likes to know how machines hunt on the beach. Find anything good?

I had mine at lake Michigan a few weeks ago
ground phase at 75
wet and dry sand

I couldn't believe how quiet it was and the lack of signals until the next morning the tractor dragging the beach cleaner came by.
I did manage to find a few dimes and a cell phone.

Earlier this year I did the same with my Gamma, and I thought something was wrong with it because it was so quiet. Then I found several aluminum cans at a foot or better right at the water line and also some bits of aluminum siding at the same depth. The coins were found about 15 feet up the beach in the dry sand at a shallower depth. Anyway, the point is the Gamma also worked great in a salt water environment. Was quiet in and out of the water. This was at gulf shores, just outside of Biloxi, ms. I'm glad your O8 did well as it shows a consistency with the brand.

I was also along lake Michigan beach in Wisconsin the O8 did well in wet and dry sand.I found many clad coins 3 silver 2 cheap rings in 4 hours of hunting.I also found a coin made of pewter have to clean it up and an old boy scout token.

How did the Omega 6000 or even the 8000 perform "submerged on in the surf" in salt water. Most of the VLF units I have use go crazy in the salt water but have serious depth in the dry sand. Is it the ground balance "all the way to salt" that helps? What is your opinion?

The Gamma worked flawlessy in and out of the surf in the gulf shores area. Some waters may have more mineralization For a detector to deal with but I know it worked fine in that area. I would assume it is because they can ground balance all the way to salt.
