Took the 600XLPRO to the beach today and yesterday

New member
I hunted in the GEB SAT Mode. I really like this mode. G/B to wet salt/fresh water beach, black sand,. Yesterday dug 4 dimes 9 nickles 1 QT, and a 8" 5.5 gram 14kt bracelet. Today a 17 14kt gram mans nugget ring that had been down there a long time and was black as the ace of spades also 7 nickles, 3 dimes, 2 Qts,. Used the 5.3" coil worked a 15 X 5 step area today and yesterday about the same size area. I was digging 0 to 30 Id numbers mostly. Yesterday and today was a total of 113 round pull tabs, broke beaver tails, small round pull tabs with the beaver tails, large round pull tabs with beaver tails and a hell of a lot of small foil. So I would say for a 6.5KHZ machine it did very well in the wet salt sand salt/fresh water beach. So the area I covered was about 30X10 steps. I was digging targets down 8"s with the 5.3" coil. All I got to say is 6000XLPRO is a Excellent machine. :clapping: Best whites i ever owned and even beginning to like it over my MXT. M6 don't even hold a candle to this machine or the MXT. Really disappointed in the M6. M6 has crappy scratchy crackley audio, tones are not clear and crisp like the MXT, the multi tones are dull and not sharp. on the M6. Not to mention how much it lies on a deep target after 6"s. Let me put it to you even plainer, the M6 SUCKS. Worst Whites machine I ever owned. It is going to take a road trip to Whites tomorrow. I don't have 4 hours on the machine , trust me, it ain't no MXT that is for sure. I know it has to be broke, so far as I am concerned they can send me a new one. Later Jerry aka Tinfoil.

1 The m6 is a very good detector.
2.It is the MXT without the relic mix mode.
3.M6 can go very deep I can pick up my 9 inch dimes in my test site.
4. The tones are very sharp and clear.
5.You will need headphones at least 30 ohms- 100 plus ohms works best.
6.My M6 and XL PRO makes a very good team.
7.Yes the M6 SUCKS up many coins plus it is hotter on gold.
8.Your m6 sound like it needs to be check.
9.One of the best new detectors made for coin hunting.
10 With the 5.3 coil it will give the XL PRO a run for the money.

SO I PUT THE 5.3 ON THE M6 AND XLPRO TO GIVE THE COINS A RUN FOR MY COIN BAG.

1. Wrong answer not mine it sucks.
2. Relic mode on my MXT has a crisper audio. My M6 sucks.
3. Not mine it lies like a rug at 6"s. A round Pull tab reads Quarter at 7"s
4. Not mine Crackly, scratchy, and can't run at max with the small coils like my MXT.
5. Have Timber wolfs and Troy Pro's you don't get any better then that. I have had all of them.
6. My 6000 XLPRO and MY MXT make a better team.
7. My M6 does suck but not coins over 6"s. It can't even ID them right over 6"s. With my MXTs more accurate ID it makes it better on the gold then the M6.
8. Yes my M6 does need help like a new damn detector that could remedy the problem if it works like everyone says it does.
9. Not mine.
10. Now there is a real ain't no way answer . NOT mine, it won't even keep up with my Mark one. , and no way will it keep up with my 6000 XLPRO.

So I figure I got a real sick puppy here. I just thought a few would like to know that they all are not perfect and some problems you might run into when you have one that don't work right. That was the purpose of the thread. Not to stir up something. If you have one that works great more power to you. The one I got is a piece of crap and I don't mind letting my dissatisfaction known.

Thats all I got to say other then this piece of crap in going back to the factory to be replaced. Period. Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

When I got my first one, I thought something was wrong with it. Very erratic audio. Poor depth of detection. Constant falsing, regardless of where I set the sensitivity. I knew it was the M6, as I tried several coils from my MXT that worked fine with the MXT. But wouldn't work with the M6. The dealer had another one shipped directly to me, as a replacement. Unfortunately, it was just as bad as the first one. Noisy, unstable, poor depth etc. I contacted the dealer and he allowed me the amount I paid for the M6 toward another MXT. It is an excellent detector.
Honestly, after 35 years of detecting and dozens and dozens of detectors, the two M6's I had were among the poorest performing detectors I have ever owned. Maybe I happened to get two bad ones. I don't know. But I guarantee you that I won't be taking a chance on a third one! HH Randy

Sorry about the way I sound. BUT MOST OF US THAT USE THE M6 ARE HAPPY WITH IT.TO ME IT IS A VERY GOOD DETECTOR.
I WOULD BE ONE OF THE FIRST TO CALL A DETECTOR CRAP BUT NOT THE M6.

I have several machines; I use the water units excusively in the surf. I use my DFX for wet sand, the PRO XL for dry sand. The water units are way too sensitive for all the trash on the beach, so I stick to the surf and usually hunt in three feet of water.

1. Excal 1000
2. CZ20 10" coil
3. CZ6A and gave my Buddy a CZ6a over in FL.
4. CZ70 5" 10" coils
5. Id Excell (made a pin pointer out of it since no small coil
6. ID Edge with a 5" coil
7. Sidewinder MM
8. Golden MM 4", 5", 8X9", 9" coils
9. Ace 250 4" coil
10. CZ3D
11. Explorer SE. Just got rid of Exp ll. 7.5"M/L coil, 8x10" Platypus coil, 5X10" Joey coil,4x7" excellator coil
12. Xterra 70 5x10 18.75kHz 9" 7.5KHZ coil
13. M6 ( MY Crappy Machine)
14. MXT 4x6" DD shooter, 5.3", 5x10" DD ,
15. New 6000 XLPRO 5.3",4x6" shooter and a 3.5" on the way.
16. Mark 1. 7", 10" coil
17. Shadow X5 5", 7", 9" 5x10" coils

All the machines have the standard coils and covers for all the coils that come with the machines except for a few. They are all in outstanding condition So I think I do understand Right Machine for the Right job.
I been doing this for 20 years I don't know much but I do know a little.
BTW all the machines were paid for with the Jewelry finds and silver coins that I have sold to buy new machines and gold that has been melted. I have owned quite a few more machines that I decided I just did not like and did not fit my type of hunting so they have gone bye bye. Now I did not post all these machines to impress anyone. I just want a few of you guys to know I did not fall off the Turnip Truck yesterday. I don't get on here and Post a lot as I am out hunting a lot of my time. I spend a lot of time reading you guys post and reading and testing new machines I want to try out for myself. I have always tried to post the truth. I am not a brand loyal guy. I hunt with what works for me. When I spend my hard earned money and I get a Piece Of Crap I don't mind one bit saying it. This M6 is a piece of Crap. Are all M6's that way I sure hope not. I believe guys like Monte, Digger, Mike Bearden, Barnacle Bill, Mr. Bill, Old California (Paul), Tom, and a few others that I don't mean to miss. When they say a machine is a good one and a few of the older guys that know what they are talking about say that a machine is a good one. You can take it to the bank. However not all machines that will work for them will work for me in my area. So you really have to try them out to see if they will work for you. Will I ever get rid of a few machine. Don't know. The fun part is just using them and trying to get the most out of a machine that it can possibly give. That is the fun in this hobby and having so many machines. So do I post much. I am sorry that I don't. Do I hunt a lot. Every chance I get. Do I post the truth about a machine?? Yes I do. I just hope I get a new machine when I send this one in. If they tell me it works like it is supposed to and there is nothing wrong with it, well it is gone you can bet on that. If I get one that works the same way that one is gone. I know this is a long Post and I don't mean to P*$$ anybody off. Maybe my standards in machines is more then others. So be it. HH :D: :D: Jerry aka Tinfoil

I got great Trash machines but since I got rid of my Quarter hunting DFX, that is all it was good for along with the XLT. Neither one would hit a dime on edge in my Garden at 8"s with the small coils but they were good at hunting shallow stuff. Sometimes I just like to go Quartering. Since everyone talks about how good it is at the beach and with the tone Id I thought I would try one. Hell, when It IDs pull tabs as quarters that was enough for me. Along with the rest of it. Hell, my Mark 1 Id's better then my M6  and has better depth even with the 7" coil. So anyway you know what I am talking about Randy. At least I am not the only one. Maybe the replacement will be better. If not It will be gone too. :D: :D: Later Bud, HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

I'm sure it isn't funny to you but it's just the way you put it makes it seem humorous. Maybe you got a Monday edition or our Southern ground isn't agreeing with it too well. In any case, hope Whites gets it resolved if it is a bad unit.
Regards.

I HOPE WHITE'S IS NOT HAVING A QC PROBLEM WITH THE M6.
Because my M6 works very good????????????????????????
Let us know what your detector is doing when you get it back.
I hope we don'T have an Edsel on our hands.

I know lots of guys think their DFX's and XLT's are the best there is. And, maybe for them, they are. Personally, I think they are a lot more sizzle than steak! My XLPro, X-Terras, MXT and Advantage are all much better coin finders than either the XLT or the DFX were. When the DFX wouldn't find dimes on edge, or adjacent to pull tabs, I thought maybe it was the operational frequencies. Heck, maybe it is? But when my XLT wouldn't hit on some of the masked targets in my test garden, I knew it wasn't the frequency. And, it wasn't the coils either because the XLPro would hit on them using the same exact coils. All I can figure out is that either I have the worst luck in the world with buying new machines with problems. Or, there are just too many adjustments for me to screw up! In any regard, like you Jerry, I stick with the ones that perform the best. I would rather spend a day digging old coins than fiddling with controls and wondering what I am missing. I will add that, once a detector "lets me down", I don't use it as much as I do the ones that are productive. And, the more you use any detector, the more familiar you become with it AND the more you will likely find. HH Randy

Hey Steve my Bud Tim (Vlad) said you have some info on the Mark 1. That is if this is the right Steve (MS). I think he said something like you knew where to go to get some Info on them. I think I will send it to Keith Wills and get it tuned up. :D: :D: Thanks Jerry aka Tinfoil

I had the XLT for 6 years, wore out one, they sent me another one. The DFX I had for at least 5 years. I ran them everyway you could. Even got Jeff Fosters Book on the DFX and a couple of other books on the XLT and DFX. Never could get them to live up to all the HYPE. Now the XLPRO and MXT live up to the HYPE and I won't get rid of either one. Hey did you get a F75 to test yet? I am hoping it will replace a few of the ones I got. I sort of doubt it as I don't think it will outpreform the Dual Freq machines at the beach. I got to get my Xterra 70 back from my bud who borrowed it 5 months ago. Now there is a sweet machine. They need to get off there butt and make the small coil for it. Later bud :D: :D: Jerry aka Tinfoil

at least until some real field use has been reported. Hopefully First Texas don't have to upgrade it a half dozen times like they did the T2. (not to mention charge for the upgrades) Fisher made some good detectors over the years. But the F-75 isn't a Fisher. It is a First Texas detector. And, until they address the ergonomic issues of the locking collars and breaking armrests, I don't need the headaches.

And, I agree with you on the X-70. The more I use it, the more I like it. When the 6-inch DD coil at 7.5 kHz hits the streets, you can bet I will get me one! HH Randy

A few comments, if you don't mind:

DFX: Had 4, won't have another. Never matched the XLT or XL Pro or MXT. :(

XLT: Had 18 of them since they were first released. One of the 'most fun' detectors I have ever used. Great for cruising for 25

Between you and Randy I think I have read every Post you two guys have ever made. You are so right about the XLT and DFX. Monte I am really happy you are up and running again. Was really missing your Posts. When are you going to publish your book. I am really looking to buying and reading it. What detectors are you going to put in your book?? I am glad I am not the only one that has had a bad M6. It is going out Monday to Factory. I did not want to send it back to the dealer as I want Whites in Cal to get this first hand from me the problems with it. My Dealer would have replaced it more then likely but that is not the same as me sending it and Complaining to them. I tried to make lite of all this and as long as they replace it with a new one that works right that will be OK in my book. Whites has always treated me right on all the machines that I have bought over the years with them. I have never had a problem with them not making things right. Hey I am glad to hear from you Monte. I can always count on you to keep me straight when I screw up a Post :D: :D: and I never minded it. It is hard to keep them all straight sometimes. That is the fun though. I got to tell you I really like the 6000 XLPRO. The Sat mode in the trash and the TR mode that you G/B to the Mineralization down here works really good here in SW Louisiana. I have been using the 5.3" mostly 4x6" next then the 8". I just ordered a 3.5" from JW so we will see how it does. I like the 5.3" better then any of them. I just don't know how I missed this machine. Thanks for the reply Monte Can't wait till you come out with your book. :D: :D: :clapping: HH Jerry aka Tinfoil
