Well it finally came 4:00 in the afternoon got in 2 hours with it I'm impressed. First signal 12.43 4 inches clad dime the depth was dead on so i hit the machine gun pit 4 pull tab tails later i get a 12.43 at 8 inches very good audio dig down 6 inches still in hole 2 more inches and silver dime 1907d barber little while later get a 12.39 6 inches dug out a 1935 wheat next signal 7 inches deep 1923 s wheat some more beaver tails and then i get a 12.39 little jumpy at 6 inches dig out a 1908 barber dime it's starting to get dark and the rain is coming so for the heck of it i crank it up to 30 manual pretty noisy but 2 swings later get a 12.35 at 9 inches deep dig out 6 inches of dirt and its screaming now still at 12.35 2 more inches of dirt out of the hole still screaming 1 more inch of dirt and i got it in my hand i though it was going to be a Indian but it turn out to be a 1920s wheat this coil is dead on for depth much more accurate than the stock coil.My dislikes like usually small coil 22 shorts rivets little crap. She was running at 24 for sensitivity +3 i though it would run a little hotter but shes getting very good depth, Sorry no pics computer crashed using backup have to get other one fixed next week.Going all out tomorrow.

Sube, sounds like you did great for the short time that you hunted. I may have to get one of those 6 inch ones myself.

Did it improve your swing speed or recovery speed in machine gun pit?

Still swung slow lots of targets but it really picks out the pull tab tails Recovery is a little faster but this coil gets unreal depth for a small coil didn't cover much ground but is getting what the stock coil didn't.It is also a lot quieter than the stock.

Mine came in the mail today. I am looking forward to trying it out tomorrow. I will reportbback as soon as I get a chance.

Well, if you are getting 8" of depth, that pretty much addresses the depth concerns. Pretty amazing. What is your mineralization like?

Thx for the report,
Albert

I'm still waiting for my 6" coil I paid for when I bought the machine in May!

Thanks for the report

Got my 6in yesterday and my 17in a few days ago . Going in the woods with the 6in this afternoon.

Eartmansurfer it always read 83 on my mxt whatever that means I would say medium never really got any depth like this before but did dig 3 coins close to 7 inches with the 5 inch coil and exp 2.

Thanks Sube, I did a little search and found the below. It looks like your ground is actually pretty bad according to the site. We probably can't post links but if you search from some of the below text you will find the whole nice article. Anyway it looks like that small coil is performing. Curious - In auto, what is the suggested ground reading on your CTX with the stock coil? Most of ours seems to be around 19 I have heard, mine is there to 21 and my ground is somewhat iron mineralized.

While not a direct report of the 'mineralization level,' the GPR is a good tool to determine the likelihood of challenging ground environments. Anything in the 50's to low/mid 60's I consider pretty tame ground. A mid/upper 60's to lower/mid 70's GPR on the MXT I consider to be moderate mineralization and certainly more challenging to deal with. Any GPR with an MXT that is up in the upper 70's and into the 80's is a flag-waver that you're hunting in what's generally termed a "bad ground" environment. Proper GB adjustment and attention to sweep speed becomes more critical as the GPR increases, and field performance is helped along with a reduced Discriminate rejection level.

edit - I should add that 83 is the default setting of the MXT (when not in salt mode). Did you actually GB your unit or use it in default mode? I hope I'm saying this right as I have never run an MXT.

Eartmansurfer I took the mxt in my yard and ran it in prospector mode which updates the ground condition #s contiguous it ranged from 71 to 83 .sube
