Wayne,the 1844 half penny was about 7 inches down.I thought it was a Canadian Dollar until I got it home. Thanks Ron
 
Nice find Ron! I have not found any Canadian coins that old but the 2 canadian large cents I have found both came from old one room school sites. go figure!

Jack,I'm not sure what the value is at this point.I have a old hard back book of world coins,but can't find the 1844 1/2 penny under the Canada listing.I'll have to email Gord from Canada.By the way the weather here in MI. is letting us know the hunting season is coming to an end.The Fisher people will sort everything out. Thanks Ron
 
They sold anywhere from $2.75 to $30.00 depending on condition. They might not be in the coin books as they are considered tokens.

Tom,one of the guys I hunt with told me he saw the coin on Ebay also,and offered me a couple of dollars for the half penny,but I declined.Thanks for the information. Ron
