Took my 11yo niece out MDing today and she did real good , all junk but she had a great time so i told her i would go buy her a MD.

She loved playing in the dirt and digging up the scrap.

So when we go back to visit I will bring her a MD.

Couple of pics of the scrap we got today.

Way to go, love to see people getting the youth involved in such a wonderful hobby. You can learn so much about history from doing just a little research of your finds on the net. My son is only a year and a half right now, but I can't wait til he's old enough to get out and detect with me, a little hunting buddy will be awesome!!

Karl,
One of those pieces looks like a chunk of a silver ingot.......lol

What detector ya going to get for her?

And I agree wholeheartedly with JJAddict.........great way to bring history to life for the youngsters......plus you find money:twodetecting:

I've been enjoying this hobby for 42 years and the time I have spent detecting with loved ones and friends and the people I have met along the way are the most priceless treasure I will ever find.

I was thinking of starting her off with the bounty hunter Jr. any other suggestions ??

and then if she sticks with it, i will get her an upgrade for Christmas.

I agree 100%

The bounty hunter jr. is perfect. It is a better detector than it looks, not to be confused with similar looking chinese units. The jr is a good detector.

The Pilot is a great little machine also. My friend takes her grandkids out metal detecting often and they have a great time. There's nothing like a treasure hunt!

Thanks Everyone.
