Took my 11" Pro coil out for a sympathy hunt ..

I know it sounds nuts but I felt bad for my Pro coil sitting there collecting dust. So I figured I'd hook it up for coinhunting and also use it for locating a septic tank cover that I was asked to find. So, here I go, driving up into a 111 year old homestead .... I was floored. I started looking for the tank cover and right away I found the 1900 IH and 1918 wheat in the same hole. What a day to forget the camera. Five more wheats .. 1909, 1914, 1945, 1948-D and 1957-D ... 1939-P quarter :yo: .... And an 1876 Norweigan 5 Ore coin ..

A real nice hunt. That Norwegian coin is really cool. Did you find the cover? GL HH:beers:

No, I have'nt. I'm thinking that a long probe would work better. There are so many metal targets, trash or otherwise, in the general area that I could be digging all day looking for that iron handle on the lid. It is a newer, thick plastic septic tank and lid. And I'm not entirely sure why those dumb-a$$es who were hired to install the tank buried the lid. The tank needs to be pumped at least once a year. Not that I would complain about having to dig all those signals ... :detecting:

I will have pictures of the whole farm (and all of the awesome coins I will find) for you all the next time I visit. It was homesteaded around 1900 and is virtually pristine, with giant white pine and norway pine trees. Very beautiful place.

I'm sensing Barber coins in my future ...

Nice finds Dave.:clapping: Shame on you for letting that Pro coil collect all that dust!! Maybe she will forgive you once again with another good outing. GL & HH.

I like !

I put the 1876 Norway coin in a 2X2 flip and gave it back to the homeowner. She was thrilled because she said that it was likely dropped by her great great grandfather. And of course it's good PR, because now I have the run of the whole place.

I'd bet your swinging arm wasn't complaining about the pro coil. Great finds:thumbup:

I'm glad everyone got a better SEF coil than I did. I really like the Pro-Coil and want to congratulate you on some very nice finds. That septic lid may have a fold down fiberglass handle (some do) so the probe may be your ticket. Good luck on your search. Maybe #2 lids is not your #1 priority when those kind of targets are there. Good luck. HH :minelab:

Thanks. And I think you are right about the fiberglass handle. I'm certain I will be back at this place at some point over the weekend. Many more good finds and pictures coming very soon ...
