Took F75 to friends established coin garden...8 Years buried measured items

Elton

New member
F75 found all coins, but one..... A mercury dime on it's side buried 10" inches in the ground.
De mode Preset....6 discrimination

3" dime..yes Clad
6"dime..yes Silver
8" dime yes Silver
10" dime flat yes Silver
10" Edged Mercury no..only in all metal, and only one way read low...58 59 on meter. Was advised it was a very thin well worn Mercury Dime.

All quarters 2" to 12" was loud and clear

Pull tabs at 7" fooled the machine..read as coin 61

Tin foil at 5 inches hit 44 45 depending on swing speed

Bottle caps..some painted so no rust some not 4" to 10" hit every one GRRRRRRRRRRR

Stat mode unable to work in the area..some type of interference close by..

This was not scientific test..Garden has not been dug up in 8 years, so some coins may have risen, depth pretty much read 5 to 7 " on all targets
He has all recorded as to what it is, how far buried, and lined with plastic cylinders. Hope this was interesting to some of you..Just gave me a better idea of what F75 can do...It's not perfect, but when considering how comfortable it is with better than average depth it's just fine...

Forgot to mention all preset except the discrimination taken down to 6, did not raise sens past preset 60...Why..because the preset 60 works best for me most every where I detect..I lower it sometimes but it is preset most of the time..I like the way it works and it goes plenty deep for me..I do sometimes try other settings, but over all De preset seems to find it for me ...even at the 10 disc....

Thanks for the informative post Elton:thumbup:

One thing I've noticed is that when I work a good signal by pulling the coil back towards myself, if it is a bottlecap, I will hear a slight growl as the coil just leaves the target. I have noticed this on just about every one that I have encountered and that is alot of them.:veryangry:
Thought it might help.

HH, bottlebum

If you have a signal suspected of being a bottle cap..(Is this after pinpoint) pull the coil back to you still having coil over the target. If it's a cap the audio will grawl a little..letting you tell the difference in good, versus bottle cap...Have I got it right ???

Correct but I am not using the pinpoint feature of the detector. Sometimes it is a real faint growl but always seems to occur and happens just before the coil loses the target.

I'm curious to see if you get the same results.

Elton crank that baby up with the small coil on I can run almost wide open..It does great in most places..thanks for the test results..:detecting:

3" Clad Dime...yes
6" Silver Dime yes
8" Silver Dime yes..with sens turned up to 80 in DE mode

10" Dime Silver flat barely just a one way iffy 52 to 56 bouncy signal. Cranked sens up machine became unstable could not get anything.
Lowered sens to 50, and hey got one way sometimes 71 reading..It did pinpoint the dime..But no solid good reading repeatable

10" on edge dime..no way...just a hope on my part..Hope I don't go over any 10" on edge dimes with 6" coil mounted

7" pull tabs read as zinc pennies..59 on one, 61 on one, and 63 on large round tab with puller part attached and straight out from oblong part.

Tin foil at 5" hit lower with 6" coil 40/41 reading....good solid hit both ways on swing..would not pinpoint very well..Seemed to drift when trying to locate center point.

Still hit all bottle caps 4" to 10" in the high 60's 65 67 68 jumped around some.......wish it wouldn't have hit them

JE mode still erratic and not able to detect due to noise and chattery background.....

All metal sens at 80 kinda stable...hit the exact same as the DE mode in 80 Sens with 6 discrimination..even Id'd the same or one number off..Signal was louder, or maybe more distinguishable would be a better word.

I did not try stat mode as I was working and snuck away for a little while.. Next time, but it would not work the other day when I tried it interference was terrible.

Thanks again Elton now lets see what we can come up with for your next assignment LOL

I did not want to wait ether read some hot tips i want to try but we keep getting pop up storms here in MASS
