Took Explorer SE out for a couple hours today

Part of a pocket watch, a toy gun, an old compact with ruje (or however the heck you spell it) still filled.
Possibly part of a lock? Don't know. One Merc, rest modern coins. Mosquitos ran me off a farm today.
They nearly carried me away!

Nice finds ! The sand flies are getting horrendous up here.

Nice finds Tony! Today I found a 1945 wheat penny and two Canadian pennies in an old Victorian Home circa 1886. I thought I would have fared better. I did find my fair amount of nails :detecting:

Thanks for the compliment. This is my second Merc this year. Hopefully I can keep 'em coming. It would be nice to for once find a silver dollar.
In town, a friend was telling me they were putting in a pool in the back yard. The house looked like it was built in the early 1900's. They were dozing off the top layer and saw all these shiny things. Silver dollars everywhere. They must have busted open a jar of them. I asked if I could metal detect their yard. They wouldn't let me. So whatever is down there will stay down there. Too bad. I could always split my finds with them 90/10. Me the 90 and they, the ten percent. LOL
I'm sure there are good coins in that property you detected in. Maybe even some jars of gold and silver coins. You never know. I've never found a cache of coins yet.

Just under the trees on this old farm where the front yard is fully shaded were the mosquitos bad. Just brushing the grass with the coil sent them flying.
Are sand flies like horse flies that bite?

Nice finds - those derringers were a hot toy for a while, I think there was a TV show featuring them (1950s?). Nice Merc. also.

I never knew that about the derringer. Too bad it's not real. :)
