OK, some days I might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, sooooo here my question......Everything went together perfectly, and the detector is in mint cond.. Included in with the trade is the digi search meter.... how does it attach to the detector?? Is there supposed to be a mounting bracket already on the upper shaft ( there isn't one on this detector )... or is the mounting bracket seperate that you attach to the shaft then slide the meter on that way??? If thats the case, then I didn't get the lower bracket to mount to the detector....

How does it go?? The manual looks to be that the lower bracket is already attached to the rod..

HELP !! Mark ( ohio )

Isn't there a little v-shaped bracket just south of the grip on your shaft? I think that is where the digi-search meters attach. Did you get an owner's manual, because the mounting instructions are in it. If you didn't, they've got the manuals on minelab's website.

There should be a mount shown in the photo. Maybe it is on the bottom of the meter and you did not notice it. Many people pop rivet this to the shaft. If you look on top of the shaft there are two little holes. It is meant to rivet to those holes. Be warned it puts the meter very low and harder to see. Some buy a simple pipe hanger from the hardware store made to hang copper pipe in homes and we use that to raise the meter. Good luck!

anywhere... not on the bottom of the meter..nor anywhere else... Gonna have to figure out a new way to put this thing on.

Very strange! As there should be a V mount on the bottom of the meter (as mentioned) as there on all the meters even the early led bar ones.
I reckon someones removed it (cant think why!) --as you mentioned the other bracket is also missing.
Is there any signs that there was once one on the underside of the meter? As the bracket is part of the casing and would have had to be
ground off.

This is how I did mine. I took the 'V bracket' off the shaft and screwed it into the top of the handle. This put it at a location I could read it better. Sounds like you need a 'V bracket' regardless of where or how you mount your meter. The copper 'pipe hanger' works well too. You can find these at Home Depot. HH. Get back to us here if you have more questions. I hope this helps you. Matt

I would highly recomend the Sunray S-8 as a coil it is capable of 7" to 8" in disq i got to 7" in badd ground .and its light

By the sound of it you do have a V shaped slot on the bottom of the meter (don't think that can be removed, of course) but you don't have the V-clip thing that it slides onto. I heard that some Sovereigns were not coming with the V-clip on the shaft by a few people here and there. So you need to get a V-clip regardless of where or how you plan to mount the meter. Check EBAY or Minelab dealers or Kellyco. Stinks they aren't including it on the shaft some times.

I have mine (the V clip) mounted on top of a bike end bar I use as my grip via a copper pipe hanger. Use some flat head screws to attach the V-clip to the pipe hanger, and of course cut off the excess length of the pipe hanger strip you don't need. The screws need to be flat headed so they'll clear the meter sliding onto it.

Just curious, what did you trade for the GT and what all did you get with it? I want to know how good of a deal you got. Put it this way. I would trade ANY detector out there for a GT except for something more expensive that I could sell for more money such as an Etrac or SE Pro.

We have been seeing 7-10 inch deep coins with no real problem and seen a standing lib quarter dug that was 12+ inches deep, but this kind of depth can only be got from those that know their Sovereigns well by using and understanding them well.

Check the packing boxes and any plastic wrap the thing came in... don't want to throw out a key part by accident.
