Any difference in tones ( silver vs clad ) like what i have read about the 705 between the 505 vs 705 ?

havnt used the 505 but it would be diff because it goes up in lots of 3 on the notch discrimnation and the 705 in lots of 2 so the tones would be different.

Using multiple tone on any X-TERRA, regardless of the model, there is a separate tone assigned to each notch segment. Therefore, the more notches you have available, the more tones there are, and that makes it easier to discern the targets.

However, some targets fall into the same notch segment, thus sound the same, regardless of whether they are clad or silver. For example, as you can see in the chart below (which is in my eBook), some silver dimes can read the same as clad dimes. Likewise, some silver quarters can read the same as clad quarters. That is just the way it is, because of the target properties.

I've read comments from some who say they are able to tell the difference between clad and silver, simply by the audio tone. But even when using a detector with the electronic capabilities of the E-TRAC, (35 ferrous X 50 non-ferrous notch segments = 1750 possible target combinations represented by 1750 notch segments), it is not always true. Some silver dimes will read the same as a clad dime, regardless of the detector you are using. And when they read the same, they'll sound the same. JMHO HH Randy
