Tone Silence?

I did some tests in my friend's front yard with a small gold ring that he had found earlier that week. We dropped the ring into a 4 inch plug and my MXT Pro was set to factory settings as I swept the coil over it and found that it gave me a VDI of 0, +10, +4, etc etc. The thing that I'm confused about is that it went from the light hum to a click and then to silent. Shouldn't it give a low grunt? Is this because the ring was so small or do I need to drop down my discrimination setting? I always thought that I would get a loud signal if there was a gold ring. To think of all of the signals I passed over before!!! UGH.

Lower the discrimination, I think factory setting is too high for that low of VDI.

Your discrimination setting only effects audio signals. The MXT Pro will suppress or silence the audio signal of targets with VDI numbers below your Discrimination setting. Your display is not effected by the Discrimination setting. All identified targets will display a VDI number regardless of where the Discrimination is set.

If you're seriously looking for gold, small rings etc. don't use any discrimination and prepare to dig lots of tabs and other assorted crud.
